Statue suggestion

As we are only £4,000 short of our target for the statue in Ulverston, could we not hold a raffle for someone to win the life-size models which were used to create the bronze statue?

We could have 400 tickets at £10 each or 800 at £5 each. Tents or individuals could buy the tickets and give the members a real chance of winning a truly unique prize.

Fields of glory

WC Fields fans will be interested in a 17-feature film set. Internet shops have it for around £30.00 (RRP £69.99).

Museum in Harlem

There is a nice tribute to the Laurel and Hardy Museum of Harlem and the folk who work there at www.scmovietheatres.com/newsreel_0811.html. For fellow Sons who have never been to Harlem or the museum there are some very nice photos.

Did you see?

Ford Kiernan played ambitious actor Ronald Villiers in a sketch on Children in Need (BBC1 Scotland, 14.11.08.). Part of the sketch took him to the Panopticon in Glasgow, where Matthew Clelland disclosed Ronald's roots. Ronald was devastated to learn that his show business ancestry did not link him to famous folk like Stan Laurel. Fearghas Kelly and Murray Crouch spotted this item for us.

Framed

You've Been Framed (ITV1, 22.11.08.) included several clips of people placing eggs in their mouths, with inevitable consequences. Perhaps they were being shanghaied?
