Little Alex's website
Many Sons will have seen
or heard about nine-year-old Alexander Rowland,
alias Alexander the Great, with his
great Ollie impersonation and act. If you
haven't seen him, you can see just how good he

Brats
A great meeting in August
had a number of "Brats" in attendance, especially
due to the school holidays.
Three of the youngest
members, Oliver Johnson, John Burton and Joe
Wilson, took part in a Kneesie-Earsie-Nosey
competition to see if we could find anyone who
could possibly challenge for the esteemed
World Title at the Laurel and HarDay in Wigan.
All were magnificent and one of them will be
representing the Brats Tent in Septober
(but which one. . .?).
We are also holding a
Buffet Night at the Lajawab Restaurant on
Monday 20th Octember to celebrate our 20th
University (the closest Monday that we could get to
our first ever meeting night of 17th Octember,
1988). My how we've altered but we haven't changed
a bit!
All Sons are welcome
to attend. If interested, please contact me on 0114
2548151 as I will need to confirm numbers in
advance to the restaurant.

Dominic Hawes
RIP
Lois [Stan
Laurel's daughter] has asked me to
pass on a message. . .
Sadly,
late last week, Lois's stepson,
Dominic, passed away. He was only 43.
This sad event, coupled with Lois being
currently offline due to an imminent
house move, has resulted in Lois not
being able to check e-mails etc
therefore if anyone has been trying to
contact her she will be unable to reply
at present. I will pass on any well
wishes at this time on anyone's
behalf.

Laurel and
Charlie
A new comedy called
Laurel and Charlie delighted audiences and
critics when it premiered in March this year. It
gives a new take on the early years of Stan Laurel
and Charlie Chaplin, as they toured together as
part of Fred Karno's music hall troupe. It will be
back at arts centres and village halls in October
and November. Bookings are also being taken at Arts
Centres for April and May, 2009.
The play is written by
Kate Bramley and directed by Kate Bramley and Jason
Hird, with original music by Jez Lowe. It stars
Colin Moncrieff and Phil Yarrow.

spotted by Roger Robinson on the Badapple
Theatre Company website.
Chuck on Nutty Nut News
Network
Another recording has been
newly added to the Nutty Nut News Network website
at www.nuttynutnewsnetwork.com.
Roving reporter Steve Wichrowski Jr conducts an
entertaining interview from 2007 with comic actor
and voice artist Chuck McCann, who discusses
conversations he had with Stan Laurel and also
performs excellent vocal imitations of both Stan
and Ollie. Joining him for part of the interview is
his "Stan" partner, Jim MacGeorge. McCann recounts
highlights of his career including radio,
television and commercial performances and
concludes with background information concerning
the Sons' Founding Tent.
