Dougie Rimmer RIP

Sons worldwide are saddened by the news that Dougie Rimmer died on 1st June. Extensive treatment failed to eliminate his cancer and latterly he deteriorated rapidly.

Dougie, a longtime member of the Helpmates and Live Ghost Tents, had many friends and was highly regarded.

Rob Lewis says, "It is so sad that another Son has passed away, even sadder that he was quite young. I can imagine that he will be with Happy Harry Ingle right now as they went to events together for years."

Del Kempster says, "This is such tragic news and quite a shock because it happened so quickly. Dougie never had a bad word to say about anybody and he was extremely well liked by everybody. He was so proud to be a Son of the Desert. I can't believe I will never see him again. At least the suffering is over and he is now with his great friend Happy Harry &endash; and perhaps a few others."

Sheran and Roy Rioux say, "Dougie was one of the nicest, kindest people anyone had the pleasure to meet. We met him along with Happy Harry at the [1998] convention in England. I sat down with Harry, at a pub where we were all gathered, and felt like I had met my long-lost friends. I wrote to Harry until he died and I also wrote on the Internet to Dougie. We will miss Dougie like we miss Harry and, hopefully, they are starting our club in heaven, where we can all meet and continue the happiness we knew when we were with them."

John de Santo recalls, "I met Dougie at the Sons UK Convention in Bournemouth, as a helper to Happy Harry, when we honoured Harry on his birthday. Very sad to see him go to comedy heaven with our many friends there now. He is missed by all who knew his kind manner and humour."
