Updated encyclopedia

A new, revised edition of Glenn Mitchell's The Laurel & Hardy Encyclopedia was published in paperback by Reynolds & Hearn Ltd on 10th July. There are 336 pages, 198mm x 129mm in size. ISBN 978 1 905287 71 0. RRP: £12.99. The first edition appeared in 1995 and there have been several later editions, but this new publication is its first major reincarnation. Glenn says in his introduction to the 2008 edition, "In the eight years since the last edition of this work, much has happened in the world of Laurel and Hardy. More film material has been discovered, books and documentaries have appeared, hitherto-unknown facts have come to light and, sadly, several individuals connected to their story have passed from the scene." With over 600 entries, the book has been reissued in a more accessible format and includes synopses and critiques of all the Laurel and Hardy films, comprehensive biographical information, the Boys' solo film careers, co-stars, directors and promotional artwork. The new version of the encyclopedia has most of the content as before plus added, updated information. A change in typeface size means more material has been fitted into a smaller space. There are, however, fewer illustrations.
