Statue unveiling and things

I have had confirmation from Wear Valley Council regarding the work scheduled for Theatre Corner (the site of Stan Laurel's father's theatre) in Bishop Auckland. Repaving to make it look like a theatre circle area and stage, with pedestrian railings incorporating plaques of the Boys' sayings, is due to start on 18th February, with completion by 14th April.

The statue was scheduled for unveiling on 16th Monday June for Stan's birthday but, due to my intervention, it is now highly likely that the unveiling will be on Sunday 15th.

The only slight problem is that the statue is not due to be completed until the weekend before so let us hope there are no problems!

Antiques Roadshow on BBC1 on Sunday, 10th February, will be from Ulverston, so there is a chance of the museum being featured.

Bob Kingdom's play Stan Laurel, Please Stand Up is at the Georgian Theatre, Richmond, North Yorkshire on 12th April.

On Monday 4th February the local NE BBC News had an item about a drilling barge being blown onto a beach by the gales. The woman reporter was shown standing by black metal cutout figures of Stan and Ollie.
