On Sunday 10th February there was a superb
evening of musical entertainment at the Quays
Theatre, Lowry Centre in Manchester. Bobby Kemp put
on a show that had the audience swinging along with
the Tony Greenwood Big Band sound. The fundraising
event was organised to support saving the beautiful
Grade 2 listed Theatre Royal in Hyde.
Sailors Beware Tent members were in the
audience. Grand Sheik Graeme Green went onstage
with his Sheikess Lesley, to present a cheque for
£250, just before a magical rendition of
Honolulu Baby that Bobby had commissioned
especially for the show. It was superb to hear the
big band accompaniment with Bobby playing a ukulele
and sporting a bowler loaned by Grand Loco Geoffrey
Green for the night. It was certainly the highlight
of the evening for the Sons.
