Real ale fans from the Sailors Beware Tent of Hyde visited our real ale Mecca - the Beartown Brewery in Congleton - on Wednesday 11th June. The group met up at the Beartown Tap pub from where Steve, our tour guide, escorted the party on the short walk over to the brewery. Although claiming not to be an expert, Steve gave a very informative talk on the history of the brewery and the techniques used in brewing our favourite drinks, punctuated with amusing stories that would not have been out of place in a Laurel and Hardy two-reeler! Then it was back to the Tap for a choice of many Beartown ales. Two drinks were included in the cost of the tour, which was excellent value for money. A very friendly and enjoyable evening.
