Brian's Astronomy - Home Page

Description
These are some of my attempts at astrophotography. I started out by purchasing a second hand 5 inch newtonian Tasco telescope, with which I was able to take photo's of the moon. But I was not able to find a RA (right ascension) drive for it which limited my photo opportunities. I now own a Celestron Celestar 8 telescope which has both RA and a recently obtained Dec (declination) motor. This will enable me to photograph deep sky objects which require long exposures, in conjuction with my guidescope. I am able to either use a 35mm Canon camera at prime focus or with eyepiece projection, or a Nikon digital camera via a digiscoping mount. I am a member of the Eastbourne Astronomical Society, and I subscribe to Astronomy Now and the Society for Popular Astronomy magazines. This site is contstantly being revised and updated, so be sure you return often to see something new!

Below is a photo of me with Sir Patrick Moore at his house in Selsey. He was kind enough to allow a visit although he already had prior appointment, on 8th July 2003.
