Will Of John Brill Brooman Of St Mary Newington Butts - Proved 15 March 1701

In the Name of God Amen the six and twentieth day of December Anno Dom 1700 And in the twelth year of the Reign of King William the third over England I John Brill of the parish of St Mary Newington Butts in the county of Surrey Brooman being at this time weak in body but of sound and perfect mind memory praise be given to Almighty God in regard of the uncertainty of this transitory life I do therefore make and declare this my last will and testament in manner following (that is to say) As touching and -------ing all and singular such Worldly goods and Estate as God of his infinite mercy hath intrusted me with I do give and dispose thereof after my Debts paid and Ffunerall expenses Discharged in manner following (that is to say)

Imprimis I give to my four grandchildren namely Elizabeth George John and Brill? all Chapman the children of my Daughter Elizabeth Chapman five and twenty pounds a piece of lawfull money of England to be paid to their ffather within three months next after my decease And by him to be paid out at Interest untill they shall attain the age of one and twenty years or day or days of marriage which shall first happen And my will is that in case any of my said grandchildren shall happen to dye before attaining the said age of one and twenty years or day of marriage Then the part and portion of such child or children we--dying shall got and be divided unto and amongst the survivors or executors of them

Item I give to my Sonn in Law John Chapman and his wife tenn pounds to buy mourning The rest residue and remainder of all and singular my ready moneyes goods chattells houfehold stuff Debts oweing to me and all other my Estate in and whatsoever and wheresoever not herein before disposed of I wholly give and bequeath unto my loving wife Elizabeth Brill Executors and Afsignes to be by her disposed of as she shall think fit And I do make and ordaine my said wife Executrix And my sonn Richard Brill Executor of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoaking all former and other Wills whatsoever by me made or spoken And now to stand in form but this my Will only in witness whereof I have here unto Set my hand and seal Dated the day and year first above written John Brill his mark signed sealed published and delivered in the presence of JohnThomas at the Golden Lyon in Southwark Walter Gore Jnr Portman Ser?

In the Name of God Amen the twentieth day of March Anno Dom 1704 And in the ffourth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lady Anne by the grace of God Queen of England Scotland France and Ireland defender of the faith I Richard Brill of the parish of St Mary Newington Butts in the county of Surrey Locksmith being ill of body but of a sound and ------ mind and ------- praise be given to Almighty God in regard of the uncertainty of this present transitory life and the ------ of oath do therefore make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following (that is to say) ffirst and principally -------

Soul into the hands of Almighty God my maker and ------ and of his son Jesus Christ my only Saviour and Redeemer through the ----- merits of whose most bitter death and passion I ----- to be saved My body commit unto the earth from whence it came to be in ----- and Christian life -------  brought to the Ground and buryed at the discretion of my executors hereinafter names and touching and -------- all ------ Goods and Estate as his Lord of his mercy hath been pleased to bestow upon me I do give dispose and appoint the same after my debts paid and ffuneral expenses discharged in manner following (that is to say)

Imprimis I do give and bequeath unto my loving Grandaughter Elizabeth Ffrench(Ffearth) the sum of ffifty pounds of lawfull money of England and one silver saltseller which I order and appoint…………………………………………………. to be paid and ------ to her at age of one and twenty years or day of marriage which shall first happen And in the mean time to dye and remain in the mothers hands for the said childs use and benefit ---- my said Grandaughter Elizabeth Ffrench(Ffearth) Shall happen to dye or ----- this life before she shall attain her age of one and twenty years or day – marriage aftersaid then I bequeath and appoint the same ffifty pounds and Saltseller to her mother Elizabeth Ffrench(Ffearth)

Item I give and bequeath to my four Granddaughters Sarah Dale Ann Dale Elizabeth Dale and Mary Dale the sum of ffifty pounds of lawfull money of England which I order and appoint to be equally divided amongst them my said ffour Granddaughters or the survivors of them at their respective ages of one and twenty or day of marriage which shall first happen And in the mean time to dye and remain in their mothers hands for their use and benefit And if they dye before shall attain to their said ------ and respective ages of one and twenty years or day of marriages Then I bequeath and appoint the said ffifty pounds to their mother Alice Dale

Item I give and bequeath to my said Grandaughter Anne Dale my largest Silver Tankard to be silvered to her at the age of one and twenty years or day of marriage And if she dye before then I bequeath and appoint the same to her said mother Alice Dale

Item I give to my son in law John Chall(ff)onte the sum of ffive pounds of lawfull money of England to by him mourning Cheapest ----- and ------ of all and ------- any ------ moneys debts owing to me Goods that ------- and Estate whatsoever and wheresoever not first in before disposed of I do give and bequeath the same to my two loving Daughters Elizabeth Ffrench(Ffearth) the wife of William Ffrench(Ffearth) And Alice the wife of William Dale to be equally divided between them share and share alike And I do make and ordain them my said Daughters Elizabeth Ffrench(Ffearth) and Alice Dale full and joint Executors of this my will and Testament And lastly I do hereby revoke all former and ---- wills whatsoever by me made or spoken and now to stand in form but this my will only

This is the Last Will and Testament of me Fanny Brill of Kew in the County of Surrey singlewoman now an Ill patient at Saint George Hospital I direct that all my firsy debts funeral and testamentary expenses be paid and swift hereto I give and bequeath All my money deposited in any Saving Bank and all other my Estate and effects whatsoever and weresoever  of or which I may be posses or articles at the time of my decease I unto my mother Dinah Brill pf Ruislip in the County of Middlesex to and for her own absolute use and benefit And I do hereby nominate and appoint the said Dinah Brill sole Executrix of this my Last Will And I do hereby revoke all former and other Wills and Testamentary Dispositious by me at any time weretofore made In witness whereof I hereunto set and subscribed my hand and name this ---- day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight _____ Fanny Brill _____ Signed published and Declared by the said Fanny Brill as and for her Last Will and Testament in the presence of us was in her presence at her request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witness hereto ___ Richard Locke, Ann Ra-tland St George's Hospital
