Our origins date back to 1946 when two friends Bill White and Joe Bright got together and using their de-mob money started Britannia Stoneworks in the market town of Bingham. Quite quickly they outgrew this location and moved their operation to the Dunkirk area on the outskirts of Nottingham.
Over the years the business grew until the need to move to more suitable premises again became paramount.
In 1970 the business transferred to its current site in the Vale of Belvoir, quite coincidentally only 4 miles from the original works.
This location offering excellent access to a range of aggregate suppliers and all major trunk roads.
For many years the current Barnstone site was home to the following three companies: -
Britannia Stoneworks Limited (the original company) still producing standard products sold mainly to the domestic market.
Britannia Sheds Limited producing high quality sheds and non standard timber buildings.
Britannia Stone (Precast) Limited producing as today non standard items mainly for the building trade.
The businesses were transferred to the care of the next generation these being their respective sons Terry White and Clive Bright.
In the mid-eighties the partners agreed to separate the companies, Clive taking control of Britannia Stoneworks and Britannia Sheds and moved location to the adjacent village of Langar.
Leaving Britannia Stone (Precast) Limited solely at the Barnstone site with Terry White in charge.
Britannia Stone under the leadership of Terry White grew into today's company taking full advantage of its location and supplying contracts nation wide.
Coinciding with the new millennium the control of the company has now passed onto the next generation, with Tom White now at the helm.
