WHAT A CRAZY WORLD
Michael Carreras, 1963
The atmosphere of East
Side London filled with rough humor and gutsy
vitality is created for the exposure of a barrage
of early 1960s London Rockers. Brown is a kid
from a working class family who is expected to go
out and find a job and continue in the same
manner as the rest of his family. Instead, he
decides that music is the path for him and sets
out to peddle a song. In this way he hopes to
avoid the despair of his forebears.
Unfortunately, the unfolding is done in a form as
predictable as that of the
usualpoor-boy-seeking-independence story. Stars:
Joe Brown, Susan Maughan, Marty Wilde (Kim's
(London production of 'Tommy') dad), Freddy and
the Dreamers. A sort of 'EastEnders' with songs!
Filmed in London's
East End and at ABPC Elstree studios.
