Worcester Park 1 - 1 Salfords FC
Match report
16th September 2006
The game began with Salfords dominating the midfield area through
Eastoe and Harjizat. With Delaney and Searle returning to the side
Salfords found the two of them linking up well together down the
right and this was to be the main outlet for Salfords in the first
half.
With Worcester Park playing the offside trap well Basher had to
change tactics to find a way through and on 33 minutes a through
ball by Searle beat the offside trap and Smith found himself through
on goal and coolly slotted under the keeper.
At the break Park were given a stern talking to similar to the
previous week against south park in the hope of a similar turn
around. Salfords started the second half the same as the first with
plenty of possession. On 53 mins Park had a succession of corners
which resulted in Salfords keeper Foskett pulling off three point
blank saves to keep Salfords ahead. This seemed to wake Park up and
without a MOM performance from Stratton at the back Salfords would
have conceeded earlier.
The equaliser came on 57 minutes again another set piece created
confusion and sloppy marking at the far post allowed Parks striker
to control and smash the ball into the roof of Salfords net. Both
sides had chances to win the game with Salfords missing the easiest
right at the death but a point was probably a fair result as
Salfords re building looks to be near completion. Basher "Again we
showed we can compete with the physical sides like Worcester Park
and also the footballing sides like Warlingham, having played mostly
sides in the top six we are happy with the way we are plying and
look forward to picking up points with a couple of games against
what I would regard as mid table sides"
