MAY NEWSLETTER

The May Newsletter is now available, and will be posted or handed to you shortly. Copy of May Newsletter also available here.

STOP PRESS

Please be aware that work to remove the old seaward access bridge to the pontoons is due to start on Thursday 23 May.

It is anticipated that the new access walkway should be in commission by that date. If, by chance, there are any delays to these plans it may be necessary to reach the pontoons by dinghy but we very much hope this won’t happen.

Please watch for any updated information on the website or in the Stopgap.

SUMMER CLUB CRUISES

You will see in your club programme, and on the Club Calendar that there are club cruises planned for destinations in the Bristol Channel. These are one day and two day cruises. You will be able to go in company with other club boats. Members will often have visited these locations before and can offer advice on anchorages, and pilotage.

In addition useful sources of information can be obtained from the various sailing club websites, a link is here.

If you have a copy of the Blue Book this has updated plans and information provided by the clubs themselves. Copies available from Force 4 and Watchet Marina.

VisitMyHarbour.com has detailed information, photos, and charts of many harbours in the Bristol Channel.

All we want now is good sailing weather.

RNLI LIFEJACKET CLINIC

A lifejacket clinic will be held at BOSMB&SC on Saturday 1st June between  10am and 2pm.

In addition a lifejacket clinic will be held at Combwich Sailing club on Sunday 9th June between 10am and 2pm.

Please bring along your lifejackets and check to see they are fully serviceable.

This is an opportunity to check the integrity of all your lifejackets. If required, would your lifejacket deploy. A few minutes of your time will be well spent and could save a life.

Last year 1 in 15 lifejackets when examined was found to be defective and would have failed to inflate. Regular inspection and servicing will help to find faults before the lifejacket is called upon.

A useful RNLI  leaflet on Caring for your Lifejacket is available to download here.
