BURNHAM ON SEA MOTOR BOAT AND SAILING CLUB

MOORING MAINTENANCE

Mooring will be laid to a minimum standard, and will consist of concrete sinkers, chain risers, land lines, strops mooring buoy bridals, and mooring buoys. Please go to Mooring Specifications for further details.

A mooring raft is available for the laying of club moorings, or arrangements can be made at a fee to lay your mooring professionally. Either way when the mooring is laid it is the member's responsibility to maintain it.

Over the course of time there is considerable wear and tear on all components, plus the river bed and bank is constantly moving.

It is imperative that members physically check their moorings regularly, and examine the chain risers and land lines annually. Mooring will require to be lifted after 3 years and serviced/renewed. Please consult the Mooring Officer who will advise on how this can be done.

The failure of a particular river mooring may not only cause risk of damage to your moored vessel but also to adjacent vessels.

Failure to maintain a mooring correctly may invoke Insurance Companies to refuse cover.

Records of Mooring Maintenance are now kept by the Mooring Officer.
