Scoutabout 2008

This years event was held between 20th - 22nd June 2008 at the South of England Showground, Ardingly, West Sussex, with an attendance of approximately 4000 scouts, guides, leaders and adults. Three years on, same venue, but a different pitch. The criteria for this event was much the same as before, to let as many as possible have a go at turning something they could take home. Sadly, with health and safety to take into consideration and only a day and a half, numbers were limited, that said, 32 scouts and guides were able to take full advantage and everyone enjoyed themselves. Each person did very well, but there was one guide who I would say has a natural talent, her name was Jemma from the Caterham group. I would strongly advice her parents to encourage her to continue turning - if talent is recognised I believe it should be given a chance to succeed. As well as the scouts and guides, leaders and adults were able to take advantage during the evening, they also did very well and were very enthusiastic.

If anyone has any photos of themselves or their fellow scouts or guides using the lathe & would like them included on this page, please email them to me.  email
