Home Page Button Membership is open to all, and starts at 12 for Apprentices, 14 for Junior membership and 18 for full membership. Although the membership is predominately male we do have a number of female's, who are very enthusiastically involved in the club, one of our young Ladies is building a 5 inch gauge steam locomotive and several are qualified to drive trains on our public running days (to meet our Insurance Requirements ALL drivers on public running sessions must have received proper training and have passed a driving test).

Apprentices
We promote Junior membership and run an Apprentice scheme, they are given driver training to enable them to use the club Locomotives that include Steam and Electric powered units and are encouraged to get involved in all forms of club activities. We have several family groups where three generations of one family are members.

Club Track Page Button Public Running Days
As we run two scale railway tracks which are committed to run every Sunday between April and the end of September (part of our leasing arrangement for the use of the park grounds), we have a roster system for these days, at present the club has Five teams that take it in turns to operate the railway, part of your membership commitment is to help run the railway on public running days and you will be assigned to one of the teams. Four or Five times a season you will be actively involved in this (but if circumstances prevent you from attending on a rota day you can simply 'do a swap' with another member), selling tickets, signalling, ticket collecting, train guard and train driver are just a few of the jobs to be done and if you are very lucky you will be given the most vital job of all - MAKING THE TEA ....
