Barking Bay/Marsh   (TQ451816) Habitat: Tidal river, with areas of exposed mud at low tide, with the surrounding area being derelict scrubland. Species: All year: Shelduck, Sky Lark, Meadow Pipit and Linnet. Summer: the odd breeding common wader may be found such as Oystercatcher or Redshank, plus Reed and Sedge Warbler, Whitethroat, Lesser Whitethroat and Willow Warbler. Passage: is mainly centered around the Thames with occasional rare Grebe; sea duck; raptor; skua; Little Gulls; Common Terns, and occasionally Arctic, Sandwich, or Black Terns; plus passerines, including Yellow Wagtail, Wheater and Whinchat. Winter: common waders are present, Ringed Plover, Dunlin, and Redshank; along with Teal and the occasional Pintail (rare), with occasional records of sea ducks dependant on winter weather conditions. Rarities: have included Sabine's Gull, Barred Warbler and Woodchat Shrike. 
Dagenham Chase (TQ514858) (website) Habitat: Pools, shallow disused gravel pits, grassland, scrub and paddocks. Species: All year: Lapwing, Sky Lark, Meadow Pipit and Linnet. Summer: the odd breeding common wader may be found such as Ringed Plover or Redshank; Hobby; plus Reed and Sedge Warbler, Whitethroat, Lesser Whitethroat, Blackcap and Willow Warbler. Passage: occasional Garganey;  occasional raptor, such as Marsh Harrier, Buzzard, Osprey, Hobby, Merlin; common waders, plus Ruff, Godwits, Wood Sandpiper; Turtle Dove; Cuckoo; passerines, including Wheater, Whinchat, the occasional Redstart, Ring Ouzel, Pied Flycatcher and Firecrest. Winter: Merlin (rare); Water Rail; Jack Snipe; Long and Short-eared Owls, Stonechat, occasional Firecrest, plus Finches and Yellowhammer and Corn Buntings. Rarities: have included Quail, Great Snipe and Pine Bunting.
