Belvedere              (TQ494808) Habitat: tidal river, area of fields and rough pasture and some pools.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Species: All year: Shelduck; Ringed Plover and Redshank; Sky Lark, and Stonechat.  Summer: most common waterbirds can be found; with Yellow Wagtail, Black Redstart, Sedge and Reed Warblers, Whitethroat and Blackcap. Passage: the occasional Grebes on the river; common waders, plus Grey Plover, Knot, Sanderling, Little Stint, Godwits, Spotted Redshank, Wood Sandpiper and Turnstone; Gulls; and Terns on the river, occasionially Arctic and Sandwich Tern; plus passerines, including Larks, Pipits, Yellow Wagtails, Redstart, Wheater, and Whinchat. Winter: The occasional Brent Goose, rarely other Geese, Pintail, sea duck occasionally on the river, raptors including Peregrine, waders including, Grey Plover, Jack Snipe, Gulls including Mediterranean;  Rock Pipits. Rarities: have included Green-winged Teal, Temminck's Stint & Red-backed Shrike.
Crayford Marshes   (TQ532775) Habitat: tidal river, with mud flats, large area of fields and rough pasture and some wooded areas. Species: All year: Shelduck; Peregrine, Oystercatcher, Ringed Plover and Redshank, Sky Lark, Stonechat and Corn Bunting.  Summer: most common waterbirds can be found; with Yellow Wagtail, Black Redstart, Sedge and Reed Warblers, Whitethroat and Blackcap. Passage: the occasional Red-necked or Slavonian Grebes on the river; sometimes Manx Shearwater or Leaches Petrel on the river (autumn); raptors, such as Marsh and Hen Harrier or Merlin; common waders, plus Grey Plover, Knot, Sanderling, Little Stint, Godwits, Spotted Redshank, Wood Sandpiper and Turnstone; occasional skua, Great, Pomarine or Arctic; Gulls; and Terns on the river, especially Arctic and Sandwich Tern; Short-eared Owl; Turtle Dove, plus passerines, including Larks, Pipits, Yellow Wagtails, Redstart, Wheater, and Whinchat. Winter: Divers sometimes turn up on the river, the occasional Brent Goose on the marshes, rarely other Geese, Pintail, sea duck occasionally on the river, raptors including the odd Hen and Marsh Harrier, and Merlin, waders including, Grey Plover, Jack Snipe, Gulls including Mediterranean; Short-eared Owls; Rock Pipits. Rarities: have included Red-breasted Flycatcher.
Foot's Cray Meadows           (TQ480715) (website) Habitat: riverside parkland, with open and wooded areas. Species: All year: Ring-necked Parakeet and Stock Dove. Summer: Whitethroat, Garden Warbler, Lesser Whitethroat, Chiff-chaff , Willow Warbler and Spotted Flycatcher. Passage: passerines including the occasional Wheater, Whinchat, and Redstart. Winter: Water Rail; Fieldfare, Redwing, and Finches. Rarities: have included Marsh Warbler.
Thamesmead           (TQ474811) Habitat: tidal mud, with some areas of scrub and open water Species: All year: Shelduck; Ringed Plover and Redshank.  Summer: the odd breeding Oystercatcher or Redshank can be found; Sedge and Reed Warblers, Whitethoat, Lesser Whitethroat, Blackcap and Willow Warbler. Passage: is mainly centered around the Thames with occasional Grebe; sea duck; raptor; Greenshank an Common and Green Sandpipers, with the odd unusual wader turning up; or Skua's; with Terns, including Arctic, Sandwich, or Black Terns; plus the occasional passerines, including Pipits, Yellow Wagtail, Wheater and Whinchat. Winter: Shelduck, along with Teal and the occasional Pintail (rare), with occasional records of sea ducks dependant on winter conditions; and common waders are present such as Ringed Plover, Dunlin and Redshank; with the chance of Rock Pipit and Stonechat. Rarities: have included Timminck's Stint and Franklin's Gull.
