Habitat: mature gravel pit, with reeds and wooded areas.

 

NO public access. A Kent TNC reserve.

 

Species: Summer: most common wildfowl; with Sedge and Reed Warblers, Whitethroat, Blackcap, Chiff-chaff and Willow warbler. Passage: the odd unusual waterbird; the occasional raptor, such as Osprey and Hobby; the odd wader; passerines including Larks, Pipits, Yellow Wagtails, Wheatear, Whinchat, and the occasional Redstart. Winter: Bittern; winter wildfowl, including Goosander; the occasional Jack Snipe; Stonechat and Chiff-chaff. Rarities: have included Red-rumped Swallow.
