Species: All year: Water Rail, Yellowhammer and Corn Bunting. Summer: Woodcock, Tree Pipit, Sedge and Reed Warblers, Whitethroat, Blackcap, Chiff-chaff and Willow Warbler, and rarely Bearded Tit. Passage: occasional Garganey; Turtle Dove, passerines including Wagtails, Wheater, Whinchat, and the occasional Ring Ouzel, or Redstart. Winter: Jack Snipe, Golden Plover, Bearded Tit, Thrushes and Finches. |

Swallows, Martins, and other passerines as well as providing roost sites
for passerines in winter particularly thrushes finches & buntings. Winter:
Teal, Shoveler, Moorhen, Mallard, Pochard
Tufted Duck, Gadwall Canada Geese and Grey lag Geese, Snipe, Green
Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, Greenshank and Ruff. Rarities: have included
Spotted Crake. |
| Rainham Marshes (TQ525800) (website) | Habitat: Marsh land, man made sludge lagoons, reed beds, tidal Thames riverside marsh and a large in-fill site.
Areas have become a new RSPB reserve. Access arrangements have as yet not been formalised. Due to fully open in 2004.

Species: All year: Oystercatcher, common waders, Barn Owl, Stonechat and Corn Bunting. Summer: most common waterbirds can be found; with Yellow Wagtail, Black Redstart, Sedge and Reed Warblers, occasionally Grasshopper Warbler, Whitethroat, Blackcap, Chiff-chaff and Willow Warbler. Passage: the occasional Red-necked or Slavonian Grebes on the river; sometimes Manx Shearwater or Leaches Petrel on the river (autumn), Garganey; raptors, such as Marsh and Hen Harrier; common waders, plus Grey Plover, Knot, Sanderling, Little Stint, Godwits, Spotted Redshank,Wood Sandpiper and Turnstone; Gulls and Terns on the river, especially Arctic and Sandwich Tern; occasional skua, Great, Pomarine or Arctic, Short-eared Owl; plus passerines, including Wheater, Whinchat. Winter: Divers sometimes turn up on the river, the occasional Brent Goose on the marshes, rarely other Geese, Pintail, sea duck occasionally on the river, raptors including the odd Hen and Marsh Harrier, and Merlin, waders including, Grey Plover, Jack Snipe, Gulls including Mediterrean, Icleand and Glaucous appear around the tip, Short-eared Owl, Rock and Water Pipits, occasionally Bearded Tit and Twite, Corn Bunting. Rarities: have included Lesser Kestrel, Red-footed Falcon, Black-winged Stilt, Western Sandpiper and Lesser Yellowlegs. |
