Surrey Quays   (TQ360797) Habitat: old disused dock basins, with areas of wasteland (not as good for birds as the Royal Docks).

 

Species: Summer: Common Tern and the possibilty of Black Redstart. Passage: the occasional rare Grebe; sea duck; with Terns, including Arctic, Sandwich, or Black Terns, plus the occasional passerines, such as Larks and Pipits, Wheatear and Whinchat. Winter: Common wildfowl, with occasional records, plus sea duck, such as Scaup, Red-breasted Marganser; Smew dependant on winter conditions. Rarities: have included American Wigeon and Ring-necked Duck.
