19 October 2008 - League Report

Sorry its a bit late but better late than never.

Mansfield 0 Lincoln 17

The awesome OOH girls do it again!!! ........... for years Lincoln have been losing players players every season to the CoE.......... now due to the sucess of their senior team last season girls are leaving the CoE to play for the younger age groups as this will be a natural progression for them. Other teams shouldn't be down hearted if they play them as they are in reality playing a great team. Every manager i've spoken to have said how well the girls play and they'll never have a harder game than they play against these girls. Wonder how many of them make the grade and go on to play for their country?

Calverton 0 Keyworth 6
Injuries are getting to Calverton this year but i'm sure they'll come through soon enough. With a full team i'm sure they can upset someone this season.

Welbeck 0 Linby 7
Despite us not having our regular keeper and having to rely on 2 brave volunteers (who played half each), the game was played in good spirit.
Welbeck kept their heads up and battled right until the final whistle.
Linby played some good football, and we wish them good luck for the rest of the season.
A really good game to watch.
WELBECK MANAGER

Rushcliffe 3 Netherfield 5
Rushcliffe took the lead on 5min when Netherfields keeper slipped just at the wrong time.
Netherfield levelled the score in the 10th min, only for Rushcliffe to get another 5 mins later.
Netherfield then went ahead in the 28th min. They added another just after half time.
Rushcliffe pushed forwards only to find Netherfields keeper in good form with two fantastic saves.
Netherfield then made it 5 before Rushcliffe got there 3rd just before the end.

Shirebrook 2 Priory 0
Amazing that Kev actually phoned in the result within an hour of the game finishing!!! by all accounts his girls did him proud and are playing well as a team  a very good game for all to watch.

Pelican 4 St Georges 1
What a turn up...... Radcliffe burst Saints bubble last week !!! just goes to show how even this league is this season. Shame their wasn't a report to follow this game.  I think once we enter phase two then both div 1 and 2 will be so wide open

Today Welbeck played Netherfield in a game that should have been played the other week.....

Welbeck 3 Netherfield 3
A very good game by all accounts and it would've been a shame if it was other than a draw. A very good game to watch for all concerned.

12 October 2008 - League Report

OOH Lincs 23 Calverton 1 ...........no report from this game but it sounds like Calvo didn't have a full team. Full respect to the girls from Calverton as they would never try to cancel a match as they have so much respect for each other and for their manager Andy. However, a team like OOH have this season no team will be safe playing them. The reports I've heard about them make them a team to be watched. New quality players returning back to the fold will give added strength to the team.

St Georges 4  Radcliffe 7

What a game. Radcliffe were right on this one. Totally dominated first half and went in 4-0 up. Increased it to 6 -0 before the saints got one back.

Last 15 mins saw 4 more goals in a battle to the finish. A cracker!  RADCLIFFE MANAGER .

So............ just when you thought the saints couldn't be touched and Radcliffe spoil their party ........... Looks like everyone wants to be top dogs this season.

Keyworth 4 Rushcliffe 3

A good games played by both teams. Keyworth went one nil up in the first half but could have been more if they had put their chances away. In the second half they got three more. Rushcliffe hit back with three goals in five minutes, ten minutess from the end, we kept on pushing to the end but Keyworth kept us out and still went on the attack themselves. A good game to watch.
A well deserved win for Keyworth and well done to my girls for fighting to the end. RUSHCLIFFE MANAGER

Linby 2 Pelican 1

Very fast paced game and could've gone either way............... two more teams who could be in with a chance of being top placed this season. The second half of the season will be so entertaining.

Netherfield 7 Shirebrook 4

Yet another goalfest that could've gone either way............ any team that scores 4 goals and ends up losing shows what an attacking team they are.

Priory 8 Welbeck 0 ................. No report from this one, but, as Welbeck shown last season they can easily compete at this level........... are they saving themselves for the second half?

So with Radcliffe and Mansfield both unbeaten who will last the longest? Compared to last season it looks like Mansfield are the team to watch, a brilliant turn around compared to last season, anyone would have thought that they'd changed their manager and got Sven to take over? I thought that but I’m sure I could hear there manager the other week.............. and I live 4 miles away.

5 October 2008 - League Report

Due to the weather it means that only a couple of games actually took place today.

Radcliffe 3 Linby 3

At one stage Radcliffe were 3-1 up, only for the battling Linby to prove that the game is not over until the ref blows for full time. Very good start for Radcliffe but silly mistakes let a battling team back in the game.

Calverton 2 Mansfield 6

Mansfield are still unbeaten this season, a very good game and Mansfield showing that they've improved from last season  ...... all credit goes to Andy (calverton) for making sure that the game went ahead .........

Thanks to all managers for being so considerate and notifying their opposition well in advance. I think it's highly commendable that managers were looking at pitches at 0730 hrs and then letting others know that they wont have made a wasted journey and can plan their day ahead.  However, could you please notify myself first? as I have a pitch that can be played on 24/7 and Shirebrook and Welbeck could have possibly got their games played Looking at the locations of most of the teams at this age group they are from North of Nottingham,so they won't fall foul of Notts City council calling off games.  At the other age group I control (u14's) I managed to switch a game between Arnold and Bingham at 3 hours notice, and the other 11 a side pitch was free to use bear that in mind please before you cancel any games.  I am now looking at rearranging games and possibly bringing some January fixtures forward. I an looking at what should be the first round of the cup. I will communicate any changes and can you also please use the under 16's forum

Remember, if any of you have any problems or issues during the season then please contact me.  Also If anyone has any reports from your games then please email me and i'll use them in the round up.

All the best ........

28 September 2008 - League Report

Keyworth Utd U16  6  Welbeck Welfare 2

A great advert for Girls football, both teams were evenly matched and the scoreline was not a fair reflection on the game.
Keyworth went into a 3 nil lead during the first half only to be pegged back to 3 - 2 which remained until halftime. Welbeck then came out with great grit and determination looking for an equaliser and even to go on and win
the match.Keyworth had to  defend resolutely and could not get out of their half for the first 20 minutes. After soaking up the pressure and Welbeck tiring Keyworth broke on the counter attack to score a further 3 goals. If
Welbeck continue to play football on the ground like they did today I believe they will win more games then they lose. A very enjoyable game to watch with spectators all saying the same.

Netherfield 0 Pelican 3 ............. Pelican still unbeaten this season and by all accounts Netherfield played very well against a very strong team.

Priory 1 Radcliffe 6 ....... Radcliffe still unbeaten and aiming for a div1 place in the next phase.

OOH Lincoln 8 Shirebrook 0 ............. A very strong Lincoln team this season against a team (Shirebrook) with new girls settling in.

Mansfield Town 10 Rushcliffe 0
Mansfield played good football in the right spirit, well done to them.
Bring on Lincoln next Sunday, something to look forward to ??????????????
Guy  Rushcliffe manager

It's great when i get reports from managers saying how well the other team played. Rushcliffe will change over the next couple of weeks as just waiting for the new players to arrive

Linby 0 St Georges 2     Looks like St Georges were made to work hard for this game and by all accounts it was very close. Just when the Saints thought they'd get an easy season without the Dukes, along come Linby to give them a game

Remember, if any of you have any problems or issues during the season then please contact me.  Also If anyone has any reports from your games then please email me and i'll use them in the round up.

All the best ........

21 September 2008 - League Report

The seasons well under way and on Sunday I went to see Shirebrook against Mansfield. It was a very good game and it was great to see both teams on a glorious day. The result was a 1-1 draw and in all honesty it was a great game to watch.  Shirebrook have new additions and they look like they're settling in well. Mansfield are injury free and it looks like they've also picked up 2 players for their u14's team............. so overall it was a good day for both teams.  Plus I stupidly went to Shirebrook wearing my Market Warsop shirt and got back in one piece. It was great talking to the parents and spectators and the managers and players afterwards.............. also I believe it was the quickest time that the Shirebrook manager has phoned his result in to the match controller

Rushcliffe 2 Calverton 3 ............... Calverton only turned up with 8 players and were a credit to their manager by all accounts, they went into the game with the right attitude and it paid off. (0-2 dawn at half time and came back to win 3-2)

Radcliffe 8 Netherfield 1................ Early goal from Netherfield cracking strike after 2 mins. Netherfiels playing really well. Radcliffe got into the game after ten mins. and were 3-1 up at half time. Netherfield down to ten players. Radcliffe dominanted second half .could have been alot more but for heroic goalkeeping full report will be here www.radcliffeolympicladies.co.uk shortly.

Pelican 3 Keyworth 0 .....................Pelican kept up their 100% record .... no match report

St Georges 10 Priory Celtic 1................ no report.  can anyone stop this team this season???

Welbeck 1 OOH Lincoln 14 .............. a very impressive display by a very strong Lincoln team, boosted this season by some new additions who really can play !!!!

Can all managers please inform spectators that often the linesmen and referees are doing the job voluntary? ... theirs been a few reports where the spectators have been giving the linesmen grief............ i'm sure that if the spectatorsare that good at knowing the laws of the game then they would be made more than welcome by most teams to run the line and hold the flag at the next game.  This season marks the RESPECT campaign............ believe me ............ the FA are taking this very seriously and will be looking to make an example out of some teams.............. please dont give them the ammunition !!!

Remember, if any of you have any problems or issues during the season then please contact me.  Also If anyone has any reports from your games then please email me and i'll use them in the round up.

All the best ........

14 September 2008 - League Report

Unfortunately Calverton v Shirebrook was postponed despite the best efforts of both managers, even though they were both on holiday the week before (not on holiday together tho!!). From what I gather both have made additions to their squad this season. Rushcliffe were also unfortunate not to have a fixture...... not heard any reports from them as to how their pre season went...... so unless anyone has been scouting them

Two evenly matched teams over the years managed a 1-1 draw Keyworth v Radcliffe,

Mansfield beat Welbeck 5-0 in a local derby, no doubt Welbeck will be looking to get revenge in the return match if they're both in the same division in phase 2.

Linby were 2-0 victors at Priory and reports that Andrew (manager) was coaching them on his mobile in Spain were unconfirmed. Also reports of him bringing back stuffed donkeys and sombrero's for every player has yet to be confirmed

Lincoln had a tough home fixture against Pelican and lost 4-2 ... but as you all saw last season that Pelican can be a great team on their day.

Netherfield were up against the formidable St Georges and lost 9-2...... however, to score two goals against the firm favorites is an achievement on its own.

The demise of Dukeries has probably benefited a few teams as some of the girls will be playing for them. Apparently most of the girls have joined respective CoE's and I’m sure I represent all of you in wishing them well.
