This is the Admiral Rodney team pictured in 1979 at Harvey Haddon Stadium.

The Rodney was formed in 1978 as a result of a successful 5-a-side team which was sponsored by the landlord of the Admiral Rodney pub.

Instrumental behind this switch to 11-a-side football was Mal Griffiths (pictured fourth from the left on the front row) who entered the side into the Sunday morning league in 1978.

There are a number of family connections in this photo, notably father & son Barry & Wayne Fisher, Ray & Dave Mace, brothers Tim & Pat Holloway and Mim Davies and his father-in-law Bill Clarke.

The Rodney ran for several years before the sponsorship finished and a new team was created the play under the name of The Cherry Tree.
