CALVERTON COLTS UNDER 9s – SUNDAY 12TH OCTOBER 08

CALVERTON COLTS V RAVENSHEAD REDS (CUP MATCH)

FIRST ROUND OF THE SEASONS CUP MATCHES AGAINST RAVENSHEAD REDS A TEAM WHO WE HAVE MET ON TWO PAST OCCASIONS AND MATCHED FAIRLY THEREFORE THIS COULD BE GAME THAT COULD GO EITHER WAY.

THE COLTS START OFF WELL WITH SOME EXCELLENT PASSING THROUGHOUT. A LEFT WING RUN BY LUKE CREATED AN EARLY BREAK FOR JACK, A CRACKING STRIKE JUST INSIDE THE BOX (1 – 0)

RAVENSHEAD QUICKLY COUNTER ATTACKED AND CAUGHT THE COLTS OUT WITH A SIMPLE GOAL (1 - 1)

MORE CREATIVE PASSING ENDED UP ON THE END OF NICKS BOOT BEATING THE KEEPER AND PUTTING THE COLTS (2 – 1) UP.

SPIRITS WERE HIGH IN THE COLTS CAMP WITH A NEAR MISS FROM SAM AND EVENTUALLY ANOTHER BRILLIANT STRIKE FROM JACK TORE THREW THE REDS NET (3 – 1)

RAVENSHEAD HAD FEW NEAR MISSES BUT EXCELLENT DEFENDING FROM TOM AND RYAN KEPT THE REDS STRIKE FORCE AT BAY. ANOTHER BREAK BY THE REDS AND WITH A MIGHTY ON TARGET STRIKE OUTSIDE THE BOX HAD A SECOND GOAL DENIED BY MAKAI WHO SEEMS TO GET BETTER AND BETTER EACH GAME. A LATE CORNER FOR THE COLTS SAW RYAN COME IN FOR THE SHORT CORNER AND WITH A SUPERB SHOT THE BALL CLIPPED THE HEAD OF A REDS DEFENDER AND SOARED INTO THE BACK OF THE NET BUT CREDIT TO BE AWARDED TO RYAN (4 – 1)

HALF TIME SCORE – CALVERTON COLTS (4) RAVENSHEAD REDS (1)

NO TEAM CHANGES WERE MADE AT HALF TIME FOR THE COLTS BUT RAVENSHEAD LOOKED LIKE THEY HAD MADE A FEW CHANGES THEMSELVES BEING 3 GOALS BEHIND. A GREAT START FOR RAVENSHEAD AND WITHIN MINUTES THEY HAMMERED HOME THE FIRST GOAL OF THE SECOND HALF (4 – 2) THE COLTS SEEMED TO HAVE STARTED OF SLOW BUT THE EARLY GOAL BY THE REDS SEEMED TO BRING THEM BACK ALIVE, A QUICK BALL TO NICK IN THE BOX AND WITH A LIGHT KICK THE BALL JUST SEEMED TO DRIBBLE INTO THE BACK OF THE NET (5 – 2)

WITH RAVENSHEAD PLAYING A STRONGER GAME ALL WERE PUT TO THE TEST BUT JUST COULDN’T STOP ANOTHER GREAT GOAL BY THE REDS (5 – 3)

SOON AGAIN LUKE BROKE FREE UP THE LEFT WING GOING ONE ON ONE WITH THE GOALIE ONLY TO POWER THE BALL TOWARDS THE FAR POST AND IN (6 – 3) A SUBSTITUTION SAW BLAKE REPLACE SAM UP FRONT. RAVENSHEAD SEEMED MORE DETERMINED THAN EVER, A LONG GOAL KICK AND A QUICK STRIKER PLOUGHED THE BALL HOME (6 – 4)

CALVERTON COLTS UNDER 9s – SUNDAY 28 TH SEPT 08

NETHERFIELD BOYS V CALVERTON COLTS

IT’S THE COLTS SECOND GAME OF THE SEASON, PLAYING NETHERFIELD BOYS AWAY. ALTHOUGH NETHERFIELD BOYS WERE NOT IN OUR DIVISION LAST SEASON WE MET IN THE END OF SEASON CUP DRAW AND THE COLTS LOST 2 – 1. A BIG GAME FOR THE COLTS TODAY.

THE COLTS KICKED OFF AND QUICKLY STARTED TO WORK AS A TEAM PRESSING NETHERFIELDS MIDFIELD AND DEFENCE. SOME POWERFUL LONG GOAL KICKS FROM THE NETHERFIELD GOALIE SOON TESTED RYAN AND TOM’S DEFENDING BUT BOTH BOYS ADJUSTED AND SOON COPED WITH THOSE LONG GOAL KICKS. NETHERFIELD HAMMERED A LONG BALL FORWARD THEIR STRIKER REACTED QUICKLY AND TOOK THE BALL INTO OUR BOX CREATING A ONE ON ONE WITH MAKAI WHO UNFORTUANATLEY COULD DO NOTHING TO STOP THE BALL GOING IN TO THE BOTTOM LEFT HAND CORNER (1 – 0)

THE COLTS KEPT THEIR HEADS UP AND CONTINUED PRESSING NETHERFIELDS DEFENCE WITH SOME POWERFUL RUNS DOWN THE LEFT WING FROM LUKE. THEN OUR LUCK CHANGED JACK WON THE BALL FROM A NETHERFIELD MIDFIELDER AND PRESSED FORWARD SIDE BY SIDE WITH A NETHERFIELD DEFENDER IN TO THEIR AREA A FINAL LUNGE FROM JACK AND THE TIP OF HIS TOE SAW THE BALL INTO THE BOTTOM RIGHT HAND CORNER OF THE NET (1 – 1)

YET AGAIN THE COLTS PRESSED FORWARD HARD WITH SOME EXCELLENT LONG RANGE SHOTS FROM NICK AND GOOD PASSING FROM SAM. EVENTUALLY THE COLTS WERE AWARDED WITH A CORNER, DOWN CAME RYAN FOR A SHORT CORNER BUT ONLY MOVED A NETHERFIELD PLAYER AWAY FROM HIS BOX JACK SUPERBLY CROSSED THE BALL IN AND FOR THE SECOND GAME IN A ROW LUKE VOLLIED THE BALL IN TO THE BACK OF NETHERFIELDS NET (2 – 1)

HALF TIME SCORE – NETHERFIELD BOYS (1) CALVERTON COLTS (2)

THE COLTS MADE ONE SECOND HALF CHANGE REPLACING SAM WITH BLAKE, IT ALSO LOOKED LIKE NETHERFIELD HAD MADE A FEW CHANGES. THE BALL KICKED OFF AND WITHIN MINUTES NETHERFIELD LOOKED THE STRONGER TEAM CREATING SEVERAL NAIL BITING SCUFFLES IN THE COLTS BOX, ONLY TO BE DENIED SEVERAL GOALS WITH SUPERB KEEPING FROM MAKAI AND GREAT DENFENSIVE WORK FROM RYAN. THE COLTS BATTLED WELL WITH A SUPERB RUN DOWN THE RIGHT WING FROM NICK CROSSING THE BALL OVER INTO NETHERFIELDS BOX CATCHING THE ARM OF THEIR DENFENDER ONLY TO BE DENIED A PENALTY, NETHERFIELD YET AGAIN COUNTER ATTACKED ONLY TO HAVE THE BALL CLEARED FOR A CORNER, THE CROSS CAME IN AND JACK, YET AGAIN WITH HIS HEAD TRIED TO CLEAR BUT DEFECTED UNLUCKILY SHORT OF THE CROSS BAR FOR AN UNDESERVED OWN GOAL (2 – 2)

ALL CREDIT TO JACK HE KEPT HIS HEAD UP AND BATTLED ON WITH MORE DETERMINATION THAN EVER, NETHERFIELD CONTINUED TO CLOSE HIM DOWN EACH TIME WITH 2 PLAYERS. ANOTHER SUBSTITUTION SAW KACEY REPLACE BLAKE UP FRONT. A FRIGHTENING STRIKE FROM A NETHERFIELD BOY SAW THE BALL FLYING IN THE AIR FROM THE HALF LINE TOWARDS OUR NET HEARTS SANK THEN LIFTED WHEN IT HIT THE CROSS BAR. AGAIN BOTH TEAMS BATTLED WELL WITH NETHERFIELD WITH NETHERFIELD HAVING THE EDGE IN THE SECOND HALF.

FULL TIME SCORE – NETHERFIELD BOYS 2 CALVERTON COLTS 2

MATCH REPORT

CALVERTON COLTS UNDER 9’S – SUNDAY 14TH SEPT 08

HUCKNALL WARRIORS V CALVERTON COLTS

IT’S THE COLTS FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON, PLAYING HUCKNALL WARRIORS AWAY. THE WARRIORS ARE A FAMILIAR TEAM TO THE COLTS BEING IN OUR DIVISION LAST SEASON. OUR FIRST GAME AGAINST THE WARRIORS LAST SEASON GAVE US 6 – 2 WIN, THEN TOWARDS THE BACK END OF LAST SEASON WE MET AGAIN AND DREW 1 – 1 AND THEN AGAIN IN THE CUP AND LOST 1 – 0 A BIG OPENING GAME FOR THE BOYS TODAY LOOKING BACK AT THE END OF LAST SEASONS RESULTS AGAINST THE WARRIORS.

THE GAME STARTED SLOW BUT EQUAL WITH BOTH TEAMS TRYING TO FIND THEIR GAME, THE COLTS EVENTUALLY STARTED TO TAKE CONTROL WITH SOME EXCELLENT PASSING FROM THE MIDFIELD AND STRIKERS (LUKE, NICK, JACK AND SAM) PUSHING THE WARRIORS DEFENCE CONSTENTLY BUT STRUGGLED TO FIND THE BACK OF THE NET DUE TO THE WARRIORS SOLID KEEPER. EVENTUALLY JACK WAS FOULED INSIDE THE BOX WHERE WE WERE AWARDED A PENALTY, A GREAT STRIKE FROM JACK TOWARDS THE TOP LEFT CORNER BUT THE WARRIORS KEEPER TIPPED THE BALL OVER THE CROSS BAR. WE AGAIN PRESSED FORWARD WITH AN EXCELLENT CROSS FROM LUKE TO SAM JUST FIRING WIDE OF THE GOAL. THROUGHOUT THE FIRST HALF THE COLTS SEEMED TO HAVE THE UPPER HAND ON THE GAME WITH GREAT DEFENSIVE WORK FROM TOM AND RYAN. AND NOT FORGETTING OUR NEW KEEPER MAKAI STEPHENS WHO PLAYS HIS FIRST EVER LEAGUE GAME TODAY. EVENTUALLY THE WARRIORS BROKE FREE AND TOOK A SHOT INSIDE OUR BOX MAKAI RESPONDED WELL AND DROPPED STRAIGHT TO THE GROUND TAKING THE BALL FIRMLY IN HIS HANDS BUT SHOCKINGLY THE BALL SEEMED TO SPIN IN HIS HANDS DUE TO THE WET GRASS AND THE WARRIORS STRIKER FOLLOWED THE BALL THREW AND TIPPED THE BALL IN TO THE NET, ALL CREDIT TO MAKAI FOR THE FIRST HALF.

HALF TIME SCORE – HUCKNALL WARRIORS (1) CALVERTON COLTS (0)

AT HALF TIME THE BOYS SEEMED IN GOOD SPIRITS DESPITE BEING 1 – 0 DOWN BUT WITH SOME POSITIVE TEAM TALK I’M SURE THEY COULD TURN THE GAME AROUND, ONLY ONE CHANGE TO THE SQUAD JAMES REPLACES SAM UP FRONT. THE WARRIORS START WITH THE KICK OFF, LUKE READ THE KICK OFF LIKE A BOOK HE STOLE THE BALL OFF THE WARRIORS FIRST TOUCH AND WENT LIKE A ROCKET DOWN THE LEFT WING MANAGING TO CROSS THE BALL OVER TO NICK IN THE BOX, NICK THEN STRUCK HARD FINDING THE COLTS FIRST GOAL (1 – 1)

WITHIN MINUTES JACK PICKED UP THE BALL AND PRESSED DOWN THE RIGHT WING CROSSING THE BALL OVER TO LUKE IN THE BOX WHO IN TURN TRAPPED THE BALL SUPERBLY WITH HIS RIGHT FOOT THEN NAILED IT HOME HIS LEFT FOOT STRAIGHT INTO THE TOP LEFT CORNER OF THE NET (2 -1).

ONCE AGAIN THE COLTS BROKE INTO THE WARRIORS HALF, NICK TOOK A KNOCK AND A FREE KICK AWARDED, NICK TOOK THE FREE KICK CROSSING THE BALL RIGHT INTO THE BOX THERE WAS A BIT OF A SCRAMBLE BUT LUKE GOT THE BETTER OF THE BALL THIS TIME FIRING IT HOME IN TO THE BOTTOM LEFT CORNER (3 – 1)

THE WARRIORS PRESSED OUR DEFENCE WITH SOME DANGEROUS BREAKS, ONCE AGAIN RYAN AND TOM HELD THEM OFF CLEARING THE BALL BACK IN TO THE WARRIORS HALF SOME GOOD PASSING CAUSED A SECOND SCRAMBLE IN THE BOX WITH NICK AND TOM CLASHING FOR THE BALL AND THE NET BUT NICK FINALLY GOT HIS FOOT IN FIRST AWARDING THE COLTS WITH ANOTHER GOAL (4 – 1)

A SECOND SUBSTITUTION SAW JACOB HAW REPLACE JAMES DAVIES UP FRONT. THE WARRIORS FINALLY BROKE OUR HALF SCORING A WELL DESERVED 2 ND GOAL (4 – 2)

ONCE AGAIN GOOD PASSING AND MOVING AROUND THE MIDFIELD ALLOWED JACK TO TAKE THE BALL DOWN THE RIGHT WING CROSSING THE BALL INTO THE WARRIORS BOX WERE LUKE CAUGHT THE BALL IN A CHEEKY RIGHT FLICK STRAIGHT INTO THE WARRIORS NET (5 – 2)

A THIRD SUBSTITUTION SAW NEW BOY BLAKE WIGLEY REPLACE JACOB UP FRONT WITH 9 MINUTES TO GO. THE WARRIORS AGAIN PUSHED OUR MIDFIELD AND DEFENCE UNTIL JACK PICKED UP THE BALL JUST INSIDE THE WARRIORS HALF WITH THE GOAL IN SIGHT HE TOOK THE BALL PASS 3 WARRIORS PLAYERS THEN DUMMIED THE GOALIE WITH AN EASY SHOT IN TO THE LEFT OF THE NET WITH HIS RIGHT FOOT (6 -2)

A FOURTH SUBSTITUTION SAW ANOTHER NEW BOY KACEY LEWITT (RESERVE KEEPER) REPLACE BLAKE UP FRONT. THE WARRIORS PUSHED FORWARD HARD EARNING THEM A LAST MINUTE CORNER. A POWERFUL CORNER KICK CAUGHT TOM ON HIS RIGHT ARM AWARDING THE WARRIORS A LAST MINUTE PENALTY, A GREAT STRIKE SAW THE BACK OFF OUR NET (6 – 3)

FULL TIME

FULL TIME SCORE – CALVERTON COLTS 6 HUCKNALL WARRIORS 3
