CHOC’S PREDICTIONS 12 th & 13 th Jan

This week see’s the 1 st team playing league leaders Kinsley this should be a very entertaining game but on paper I would say a draw looks good odd’s but if Crink can rally the troops for this game we could sneak a victory, the Reserves travel to Radcliffe who we beat earlier on in the year only to have the points took away from us for a illegal player being played so I can see us once again bringing home 3 points as the team are looking very strong with players coming available from injury.

The 3rds are at home against Nottinghamshire 2 nd team who are currently lying in 2 nd place in the league, if our finishing is the same as Saturdays performance I can see us coming away with a point, 3rds are lying 5 th in the league. Paddy’s u18 side have not a game this week, paddy has started getting players back from injury.he will want to add to last weeks excellent result by getting his first win of the season in the league but will have to wait until next week, Steve and Dawns u17s face a tough cup match away to Burton Joyce but on there recent form they should give a decent game but they are up against a good side and I fear they may go out.

Our 16s are at home and entertain West Bridgford Colts and I am sure Russ and his back up crew will want to add another 3points to there very good start of the campaign and I can see no reason why they should bag another 3pts so a win I predict. Andy’s u15s have not had a game for a few weeks but I am sure he will rally his lads to a victory but on present league form a draw looks on the cards. Dean in his first year as manager will want his u14 lads to continue the good form of late and I can see no reason why he won’t win against Wollaton Puma’s so another 3pts to add to his tally of 18 this year.

It is Notts FA shield week for some our teams starting with, Dave lee’s u13 lads have now starting to believe in themselves and have started to move up the league but a cup match against AFC Vernon is a big ask but the lads will give it there best shot but a close game I predict with AFC Vernon going through to the semi-finals (hope I am wrong).

Micky Bradwells lads are on fire at the moment I they entertain Manor 4 th for a place in the last 8, Mick tells me they are confident of going through so I predict a win for the u12s. Daz Smith another one has predicted a win against Radcliffe u11s for a place in the last 8 and are playing on the main pitch under the lights this Thursday at 7pm, big pitch and Daz is away with work but I predict a close game possible Extra Time and a possible win for our u11s.

Back to league action with Leslie’s u10 boys who travel to West Hallam who are the basement team at the moment and I can see a win for the u10 colts.

Mick had the u9 team in over the weekend for extra training so a visit to Gedling Town’s red team who are laying bottom should be a victory for the u9s.

Pete’s u8s in there first season are still gelling and getting better each week so a home game against Hucknall warriors who laying just below them so a win would be welcome but I can see both teams settling for a point.

Our Girl teams are having a mean time of late but both sets of teams are strong and good enough to bounce back and the u15s who lost last week to Linby travel to Lincoln and I fancy the girls to come back with a point, Our u11 girls travel to AFC Vernon on Sunday who are just above them I think a close and hard game but I will predict a win for the girls.

And finally our Vets who fell over last week travel to Clifton who are 3 rd from bottom, Windy and Pete need to get the deep heat out and get the lads up and running and a win by a large amount is on the cards.

These are my predictions and I hope your team proves me wrong.

CALVERTON UNDER 16’s - THE SEASON SO FAR.....!!

The season has gone very well so far. Unbeaten in the league and through to the Quarter Finals of the League Cup (a 3 game, 14-0 record so far !) We are very pleased that all the pre-season signings have proved a success and the new players have fitted in very well. The rotation system is working and all the Squad are getting plenty of playing time. It should also be noted that five of our Under 16 Squad have progressed to play for the U19 Academy in the North Midlands Windsor Foods League. The team are also grateful to the support from parents and friends.

Highlight...........

Beating arch rivals, League Champions and Shield holders East Leake in the League Cup, their first defeat for over a year.

Lowlight............

Losing a last second goal at West Bridgford in a thrilling 5-5 draw. Disappointing loss to Jacksdale FC, the best at this age group in the County, in the FA Shield

Best home performance......

As mentioned above – turning East Leake over !!

Best away performance..........

Winning at Ruddington 4-1

Best goal(s) scored............... (3 Joint winners)

1. Zach Bartlett scoring an exquisite 25 yard volley seconds after coming on as second half substitute against Keyworth.

2. Declan Smith’s 30 yard top-corner screamer of a volley at Wollaton during our 7-4 win.

3. Smithys’ last minute bullet header to nick a point at home to Long Eaton

Worst goal(s) conceded.........

Both goals against Long Eaton at home.

Best laugh.........

The performance of the “god loving” referee at Fernwood School against Wollaton.
