CHOC’S PREDICTIONS 19th & 20th Jan

Well I do hope I fair better this week with my predictions as last weeks was not good with 9 wrong and 2 right, but that was down to teams losing when I was predicting wins shame on them teams you must do better, well here goes for this week.

With a great win last week against league leaders I can see the lads coming home with 3 more points against Parkhouse and keep the pressure on the teams above them, the reserves are in action at home against a very good Forest town side who lying 2 nd at the moment, if Mull has a full strength side out I can see a well earned draw for the ressies,

Big Jon Basford is back at the helm this week with the 3rds and up against Crown Inn who lay 3 rd from bottom and a win is a must to keep there title challenge on track, so a win for me.

Paddys team without a game last week travel to Woodhouse Imps and I am told by Paddy that this will be there first win as he is at full strength and I will agree with him and forecast a win.

Our u17s will try and get there cup match played at Burton Joyce this week after last weeks postponed game, a tough game but who knows but sorry lads I know you will give it your best shot but I feel you will not be in the hat for the next round.

The u16s travel to Carlton in the cup for a place in the semi’s not a easy game and with Carlton being the underdogs I hope our lads don’t think it is a pushover, I predict a close game with Calvo coming out top.

Andy Melaugh’s u15s play at home against Netherfield Colts who are just below them in the league, a interesting game for the lads and a draw is on the cards.

Dean’s 3 rd placed u14s are at home in the cup against Priory Celtic who are 5 places below Deans lads but this is a cup match and I feel Calvo may fall at this stage and will not go through unless they can prove me wrong and I am sure Dean will let them know my prediction.

Dave Lee’s u13s pulled of one the biggest cup shocks for years by turning over Vernon but they are back in league action this week against West Bridgford away, hope I don’t change your winning ways by predicting a win for Calvo.

Our u12s lads did the club proud in the cup with a 5-0 win over Manor 4 th and move into the last 8, this Sunday they travel to Rainworth Tigers and another 3 pts should come there way so a win is my forecast.

Our u11s who have lost 2 on the bounce in a week entertain Beeston Centurions at home and with them one place above them in the league I cant see them leap-frogging them so a defeat is on the cards.

Leslie’s u10s played in a 8-5 thriller last week need to get back on track and are playing Netherfield gold who are placed 2 nd unless they tighten up I cant see them coming away with a point.

U9s Mick and Colin’s team haven’t played for a few weeks and have only trained so this week will be big test against a team that are currently top, I feel with the lack of games our lads will struggle to get anything out the game, prove me wrong.

U8s are playing bottom club Wollaton away and I am sure the lads will come away with all 3 pts and may even score if they get a penalty, Pete assures me.

U15 girls are away to Mansfield Town girls who are also bottom of the league, 100% certain that they will bring home a precious 3pts and will keep Andy and his crew happy, our u11 girls who lost both goalkeepers last week through injury entertain Bingham town at home and I am told they will get 3pts of this one and I will go with a win which could move them to 3 rd in the league so come on girls.

And finally the Vets take on Poachers Tavern away and a win is a must to take the pressure of Manager Windy Miller, Pete is not convinced with him but I go with the Vets on this one to claim 3pts comfortably.

...its all about the fans...

(NB - the article may be slightly out of date in so much that I now know taht a Colliery team was playing league football in 1947 - five years earlier than the opening of the colliery. At the end of the article, the club will not be pushing for step 6 status. See the history page) I have notified Clive of these changes so the Midlands Non-League Football web site may soon reflect this.
