CHOC'S LAST DAY - 3 APRIL

It was Choc’s last day as our groundsman today. Choc took over following the sad departure of Bob Kinton and had a lot to live up to! Bob was/still is a legend. The timing coincided with the grant which enabled us to upgrade the pitches.

Over the last 6 years the pitches and the markings have been top drawer.

Progress has been made with numerous contacts wanting to use our facilities- club football, FA usage, coaching sessions, deaf, Notts County, schools, representative games, women, cup finals etc etc.

Well done Choc!

On behalf of our football club, and on behalf of our Trustees, Directors and Welfare Management – thank you Choc for your commitment over the last 6 years.

The reasons for Choc’s departure in the current economic climate are totally understandable. We wish you well in your new job at Colonel Frank Seely. Our loss is the school's gain.

Moving on, Bill is picking up the reigns. Bill is committed! Please support and work with him.

Thank you!

CHOCS PREDICTIONS 14th MAR & 15th MAR

Well now the weather has turned for the better I can get down to predicting the results for our teams.

1st team of late have had a mix bag of results but last Tuesday saw them get back on track and go back on top of the league by beating Southwell 4-0, this week is a real tester when they take on Newark town who are fast improving there position in the league and will give us a game no doubt about it but a win is what we need but I fear a point may be all we will get. So a draw for me.

The reserves got back into winning ways last week by defeating Clipstone MW 3-0 but as usual they have no game this week, I just hope the league is better run next season where hopefully they will get more games and at better places. With good facilities.

The 3rds are currently sat at the bottom of there league and Darren is still plugging away but his team never get a drubbing so hopefully that is something to build on, this week they are at home against 4th Placed Radcliffe they have all to do but you never know in football so I will go for a low scoring draw.

The u19s last played a week ago and took on Worksop Town and after going down to 10 men early on and were losing 2-0 bravely fought back and earned a point with it all finishing 2-2, but no game this week.

Our new NAA had a nightmare last week where it was 2nd played 3rd and 2-0 up at half-time went into suicide mode and eventually losing 5-3 and also having one sent off, Stan and Ollie must have been raging but as usual it was all smiles after the game with a pint in there hand, this week it is Vernon and they should come away with all 3 points, so a win for me.

The Academy Saturday who have made it to the Nott’s Minor cup final are in cup action again this week against Bottesford and there is no doubt that we will be I the next round, they are still favorites to win there league so keep it going lads.

The u16s of late have produced some great results which keeps them up there in 3rd place but last week saw them surrender a 2 goal lead and finish up all square at 3-3, they must be disappointed after a great result the previous week, this week it is West Bridgford who are mid-table so a win is on the cards and keep them up there and hopefully a top 3 finish at the end of the season, a win I predict.

The u15s last week saw them drop 2 valuable points against 3rd placed side East Valley but enough to keep them in 2nd place but can they catch Parkhurst to retain the championship who knows but they are 5pts adrift, this week it is another tough game for them but I fancy us to get the 3pts and keep us in there with a shout.

The u14s battled through in the Semi’s and came away with another place in a cup final that’s 2 finals our lads have reached this year, as for the league they still have a chance but with a lot of games to pull in could be there downfall, this week is league action and a trip to Pelican colts who are 4th of bottom so a win is vital to keep it going and I see no reason why they cant get that win.

The u13s must be upset last week going out of the cup Semi’s with a shock result but they can now concentrate on winning the league, a kick up the backside is what they got l but hopefully they should learn from it and bounce back, but this week it is West Bridgford lions who are in 3rd spot and they could do some damage, so if my prediction does not work on our lads the league could go all the way to the end, a defeat is on the cards lads, so prove me wrong.

The u12s who have not won for there last 5 games are slowly improving and what better game do they need to record there first win in five this week against Hucknall Harriers who are some 3pts above them, so a win and a big boost for our u12s this week, don’t let me down.

The u11s went agonizingly close in the Semi final’s last week going out 3-2 and the lads should be ever so proud of getting that far, but back to the league this week and a home game against West Bridgford and with a win that will take us level with them there is no more incentive but to win, but I predict a draw.

The u10s came away with all 3pts last Sunday by beating Ernale Colts 3-1 which keeps them up there but with only 2 games left they need to win both games which should give them a top 4 finish, so come on lads finish off in style and get all 3pts against Ravenshead, a win for the lads but just.

The u9s who have now finished there season and with a very creditable 3rd place finish in there first season so well done to Management and players and more important the supporters to a very good season.

The u12 girls who could finish in the top four if they win there remaining 2 games have not a game this week, but there last 3 games they are un-beaten and have defeated the league leaders who have not lost a game all season and they too have had a terrific finish to there season, it shows the girls are on the up but a mention to the management who have stuck by them and supported them in everything they do.

The Vets are away this week at the impressive Victoria embankment set up and take on Nevabeen Athletic and with a win securing runners up spot I can’t see the old boys failing so all 3pts for Arthur Lowe and company.

The u9 girls played in a friendly last week and came away with a defeat but head up girls very early days.

The u8s also played but went down to a good side in Cotgrave, but next year it all starts for them so good luck.

Please remember that these are my predictions and I do not intend to offend your team but please feel free to prove me wrong and good luck.

The FA’s Respect campaign has begun and we as a club need to support it.

Remember tell your supporters to stand back of the field of play and let your children enjoy there football.
