CHOCS PREDICTIONS 18th & 19th Oct

Last week was a very poor effort by myself and quite a few of the Colts teams, with only 3 right and 10 wrong and 4 with no games meant it was a poor weekend with regarding the results with a few teams under performing but I am sure all the teams will get over it and look forward to this weekends football.

1st team lost at home 1-0 to Pinxton with quite a lively finish to a dull game but I am sure they will want to put things right this weekend where they take on a very good side in Forest Town this is a toughie and a draw for me.

Reserves started off on Sat going 2-0 up only to draw with the last kick of the game against Pinxton Res. This week they are playing my old team, Southwell City and I'm afraid I foresee a 1-2 defeat coming our way.

Our 3rds went down to Derbyshire losing 4-1 this is the team that Calverton had beaten 3 weeks ago but they do say football is a funny old game, they are in cup action this week against a side that beat them 2 weeks ago 1-0 but on current form I cannot see them in the next round.

The NAA side play Kimberley Town away and Stan and Ollie will be hoping that there team gets back to winning ways after last weekend’s trip to Wembley, this is a certain 3pts for them.

U19s have not played for 2 weeks and they like the reserves have no game again, how are teams supposed to prepare for the season ahead when they only play every now and then?

NSL Academy they like the u19s have no game for 3 weeks but some of there players are helping out with 1st and reserves team duties.

U16s, 2-1 up at H/T and by the time I got up to see them they were 6-2 down and that was how it finished but the lads will learn from that defeat and bounce back this week but they will have to as they are playing the team above them, I will play it safe and go for the draw.

U15s, After destroying the 2nd placed team a fortnight ago and last weeks 0-0 draw that must be a first for the lads so there 100% for wins  has gone. I must have tempted fate by predicting a win last week. Cup action this week against Div 2 side and I predict us going through to the next round with ease.

U14s, well they say it is not over until the final whistle has gone but on Sunday this happened to Dave’s lad’s who were playing big rivals in Awsworth only to go down 3-2 with the last kick of the game, ah well back to this week league game where they take on Pelican Colts and 3pts in the bag.

U13s, one of the teams that didn’t let me and the goalpost’s down last week by coming out 7-0 winners which keeps them top of there league, I can see the same sort of score this week and another 3pts for the Calvo boys.

U12s, another team failed last week and with a win that would of took them to second spot only to come unstuck going down 3-2 at home, but on Sunday they will bounce back and bring home the points with a win.

U11s, lost last week but with players either out injured or un-available left them with skeleton squad they did ok, interesting game this week which I can see a draw for the u11 squad unless they can prove me wrong..

U10s, another team that proved me wrong by coming out 5-1 victors which puts them in the next round of the shield, back to league action against lowly Cotgrave and I am sure they will continue in the same vein as last week’s result and bag 3pts.

U9s, this team didn’t let me down and came out victors on Sunday not sure of the score but I do know they won, take on bottom side this week and I see another victory for the lads.

U12 girls played Ilkeston Ladies last week and went down 2-1, they have Keyworth this week and I will predict a draw for the ladies, I am sure Jo and her crew will want to prove me wrong - by the way mine’s a pint.

U16 girls, took on a tough tough side in Lincoln Ladies and came away with nothing but they will put that them behind them and concentrate on this weeks game like the u12 girls play Keyworth, this would be nice to get a double on them but with Andy’s side struggling with injuries it has to be a big ask, but no double this week or a single. Come on girls prove me wrong.

Vets, the old boys are back in action this week against the Nottingham Vets who also play at CMW so this is a local sort of Derby but I will stick my neck out and go for a win for the Calvo Vets.

Sorry I cant report on the u8s but due to league restrictions I’m not allowed to do it.

Also this Sunday is the Roman fundraising day starting off with a ladies V Gents football match at around 1pm, this is to raise money for Roman’s charity and if you can support it please feel free, there is a head shave, Live band at 5pm, body waxing and plenty more on the day this is also on the notice boards around the club, if you have not sponsored anyone please do so as it will go to a smashing charity which affects us all, please remember Roman is only 2 year old and his Mum and Dad support a lot the events that go on at the Club.

And as usual these are my predictions and I show no favouritism with any of the teams, if I have predicted your team to lose and get it wrong that is brilliant but if I predict your team to win and they lose that is not so brilliant.

Good luck to you all.

CHOCS PREDICTIONS 11th & 12th Oct

Last week was a very good weekend for all our teams with most of them coming up trumps, my predictions were 11 right with 4 wrong and 3 not playing due to our fantastic weather.

1st   team won away to Basford Utd in the Senior cup 3-2, and this week entertain Pinxton who had started well but the last few weeks have seen a dip in form and our lads should come away with a win but need to step it up to get that win.

Reserves had a good win last week against Church Warsop 3-0 but are facing Pinxton Res away, providing they have a decent side out I can see no reason why we cannot come away with another win, also nice to see Corky who is currently joint top scorer along with Steve Kelly who is just coming back from injury.

Our 3rds went down to league leaders last week 1-0 which was a good achievement on it’s own, they play Derbyshire this week and I see a win for Darren.

The NAA side went down 3-0 last week in which I had them down for a win, Stan & Olie will want to put that right but with no game this weekend, extra training maybe.

U19s had a good win last week but no game this week in fact not till the end of the month, who would be a fixture secretary?.

NSL Academy side still unbeaten and top of the league and with last weeks very good 2-1 win over Caribbean Cavaliers which was a good test of character for the young lads, but they like the u19s have no game for 3 weeks.

U16s, After a fine win last week 4-2 against Bulwell Town which puts them joint top with the team they play this week Burton Joyce, they will need to be on the ball to get a result but I fear Burton Joyce maybe better on the day, a defeat I predict.

U15s, Last week saw them play 2nd placed Vernon and come away with a outstanding 6-1 victory which put’s them top of Div 1, they play mid table side this week and I see another 3pts coming their way.

U14s, Dave’s lads had a two convincing win’s last week which also puts them joint top of Div 1 and they also play the team who are joint leaders in Awsworth, this team has always beaten the lads but this time I really fancy the lads to beat them but I will play it safe and go for a draw.

U13s, had a funny sort of game against Bagthorpe finally beating them 7-3, and like a lot of our teams head the table, they play Pelican this week and surely another 3pts for the lads.

U12s, came good this week with a 5-1 victory which takes them to second place, they have a tricky game this week with 4th placed Keyworth, a draw is on the cards.

U11s, had a convincing 7-2 victory last week which moves them up to 6th, they will want to win again this week and I see no reason why they can’t get another 3pts of Keyworth Jets.

U10s, had no game last week due to waterlogged mini-pitch but hopefully I can mark out another pitch for this weekend which should make sure that all our mini soccer games are played, they like a lot of teams are also joint top and take on Ravenshead this Sunday but a draw is on the cards.

U9s, they take on basement club on Sunday with a win for our lads, which should see them climb up the table.

U12 girls, playing Ilkeston Ladies on Sunday and this one is a hard game for our girls, I can see us coming away with a win and zoom them to near the top spot.

U16 girls, took on a tough Mansfield Ladies team and came away with a defeat but with players either injured or away, I have a good feeling for this Sunday and I feel we can come away with a point.

Vets, who were at home last week against Forest Town, and after me watching Brian and Wag putting them through the paces at training I thought I saw a big win coming only for them to let me down with a hard fought draw 1-1, but they are still top and have earned themselves a rest this week.

These are my predictions and I show no favouritism with any of the teams, if I have predicted your team to lose and get it wrong that is brilliant but if I predict your team to win and they lose that is not so brilliant.

Good luck to you all.

I mentioned last week that the club secretary had been interviewed by the Sports Times regarding the Brocton game......

Dear John

The FA Carlsberg Vase - First Round Qualifying Replay

Calverton MW –v- Brockton - Tuesday 9 September 2008

I am delighted to inform you that your club have been chosen as the “Team of the Round” for the above tie and your Club will be presented with an FA Presentation Plaque and will receive 20 complimentary tickets for the Vase Final at Wembley on Sunday 10 May 2009 and will receive four cases of Carlsberg beer direct from Carlsberg.

The presentation of the plaque will be made to your Club by John Waterall of the Vase Committee on a date to be advised which will be at one of your forthcoming home games in the next three weeks.

The FA media release for your Club’s award is as follows:-

“The step seven side from Nottinghamshire, who moved up to the Central Midlands League supreme division this season, produced a fine performance to overcome Brocton, the step six side from the Midland Combination. The team, managed by Graham Walker, traveled to Staffordshire and fought back from 2-0 down to force the tie to extra time in which they held firm against a home revival to force a replay. A hat-trick by Craig Boulton brought them a convincing 4-1 replay victory. “The Vase is brilliant for us and has given us national recognition - a lot of people have heard of us now,” said John Daniel, who as club secretary for the past ten years has supervised Calverton’s rapid expansion with the aid of a £650,000 grant from the Football Foundation in 2002”.

Yours sincerely

Steve Clark

Head of Competitions

CHOC'S PREDICTIONS

Last week was a very good weekend for all our teams with most of them coming up trumps, my predictions were as usual spot on with the result but not with the score-lines so I will miss them off this week. 13 predictions last week saw me getting 9 right and 4 wrong not bad for me first one.

1st  team are away to Basford Utd in the Senior Cup and they have a tough game on their hands, even though we won last week. However, I can see us coming through with a win.

Reserves had a good win last week and face Church Warsop in the league. They played with a lot of pride last week and if they do it this week it should be our first league win, so a win I predict.

Our 3rds under new management have finally got a win under their belt, but face the league leaders this week. Unfortunately I have to say a defeat is on the cards.

The NAA side had a win last week and face a toughie this week in Beacon, but I can’t see the lads slipping up so I go for a win, but close.

U19s take on Harworth in the first round of the cup and I would say after the disappointment of last week’s defeat that Kuki will want better from the lads, so I predict a win.

NSL Academy side are still unbeaten after last week’s stroll in the park but face tough opposition this week in Caribbean Cavaliers. A good game should be played on the day resulting in a draw.

U16s, after a fine win last week face Bulwell Town this week. It needs to be the same sort of performance from the lads but I can see a draw for the u16s.

U15s, big game for the u15s who play 2nd placed Vernon. It would be boring to predict a draw so I will go for a win for our lads.

U14s, Dave’s lads had a convincing win last week and play on Tuesday night in the FA Shield against Priory Celtic, a win for us in this one. Then on Sunday travel to West Bridgford where another win should move them up the league.

U13s, Mick’s lads play Bagthorpe and on a good day they should come away with 3 points. I predict a good day, so a 4-0 scoreline should be enough.

U12s, after last weeks hiccup they should get back to winning ways this week with a 4-1 victory, don’t let me down you didn’t last week.

U11s, 8th plays 9th this week and a draw is on the cards unless Lesley can persuade them to get the victory before dinner at the club who knows?

U10s, defeated last week against a very good side but play a Division 3 side this week. It should not be a problem to gain victory but you never know with cup games, still a win for me.

U9s, drew last week but I am sure Mark will get them going again this week and bring home a win.

U12 girls, playing Ilkeston Ladies on Sunday and a draw is on the cards.

U16 girls, take on a tough Mansfield Ladies team and with players either injured or away I fear it is a tough game to win, sorry ladies but a defeat is my prediction.

Vets, who are at home this Sunday against Forest Town and after watching Brian and Wag putting them through the paces at training I can see a big win coming for the old boys.

These are my predictions and I show no favouritism with any of the teams, if I have predicted your team to lose and get it wrong that is brilliant but if I predict your team to win and they lose that is not so brilliant.

Good luck to you all.
