An Evening With Duncan McKenzie

Duncan McKenzie Evening A Big Success

21 March 2006

On Tuesday 21 March 2006 Calverton MWFC held their first ever guest speaker night with ex-Forest, Leeds, Everton etc. and England international legend Duncan McKenzie as principal guest.

The event was a complete sell-out with all tickets being sold well in advance.

Ten tables of ten, including two corporate tables were served a ploughman’s lunch and the bar staff were kept extremely busy all night.

The programme of events for the evening was as follows:

  • 7pm Arrival
  • 7.30pm Short welcome from Darryl Claypole
  • 7.45pm Heads and Tails at £2 per go
  • 8pm Food is served
  • 8.45pm Duncan to speak
  • 9.15pm Interval, time for photos, autographs and drinks
  • 9.45pm Duncan to speak again and to answer questions
  • 10.15pm Auction and Super Draw
  • 10.45pm Thanks and raffle

It didn’t exactly run to schedule but Duncan gave two slots and went way over his allotted hour.

Of particular interest to the locals were Duncan’s reminiscences of his experiences playing under Brian Clough interspersed with anecdotes of ex-Forest players, Alf Ramsey, Lester Piggott and Duncan Ferguson’s burglar just to name a few.

The evening was superbly well received by everyone who attended and it was a thoroughly enjoyable event.
