The original question may well have been posed way back in the formative days of the club, in 1920. Our archives (because, hard though it may be to believe, even Gordon and Trevor are not Founder Members !) indicate that the intention was to establish a Stretford Section for the National Clarion Cycling Club...

The club was first established 1920, with an intention of being the Stretford Section of the National Clarion Cycling Club: that fell at the first hurdle so the club evolved as Stretford Wheelers Cycling Club and here we still are, free-wheeling on towards 2008, some 87 years old.
Back on a serious vein now, in here, we can insert bits taken from the Archive Minutes giving a little bit of the early days of the club. I'll find the bit about Troublemakers, getting reprimanded for overtaking the Club Captain. We may wish to mention the late Hilda Fuller, first Lady Veteran. We can add in Cyril / Gordon / Trevor / Cathie / Dennis / etc's recollections. Also write up the Club Team Land's End to John O'Groat record of 19xx, only recently beaten by Nova C.C. in 200x.
