Various rumours abound - it was wet, and wetter for others - a failure to negotiate a bend at Bate Mill saw one club member literally take an early bath. The ducks were impressed. I can't speak for any of the Withy Wheelers though...
Phil's ride-out route may have been a good warm-up for some, wearing out the others. So, Withies took full advantage taking fastest-up-the-hill honours. And 2nd fastest. And 3rd...
For the rest of us, it was Pete Milligan being fastest Wheeler up the hill. Three Ians filled the next slots.
Graeme was absent, feigning knee troubles again, although rumour has it that he was "Axing- Aud-ly" and that a pub might have been involved. Priorities right then?
Brian didn't come out of retirement to reclaim the Lanterne Rouge - perhaps he'd heard that last year's bottle of wine was no longer on the trophy table? Anyway, Ian Fielding seems to have taken a shine to that spot.
So, well done to Pete - Trophy Winner in his first year with a similar time to Graeme's previous best - roll on next year?

Dick Dastardly sneaked in a last 25 to pull the 105 trophy rug from George's wheels. Carrying a spare tube and CO2 cartridge to be sure of finishing, a semi decent ride and no trouble would be enough for Graeme to retain his grasp on the 105 this year.
George might have praying for the weather gods and boy, was it windy! 37mph down the A1 in places. 19mph back up the old road though. Gusting enough for a few to pack after lap 1. Only 36 finishers out of a field of 79.
A day for 54x11 going out. 53x12 was not enough!

Phil DNS'd and George still sunning himself abroad...
But conditions were faster than 2008. Cyril, a minute quicker & this time avoiding p*nct*res and Graeme making it to the Starter in time.
Wind was from the west so evened it up both directions. For once though, the wind was with us on the finish straight.
Won by Mark Holton in 19:57 (not the year).
