Grommit arrived in April 1997 only a few days old. He was found alone in a garden. His mum was probably feral but no-one can be sure how he came to be alone at such a young age. He was bottle reared for a few days until a mum cat arrived at the sanctuary with her own kittens which were about a week older than him. She accepted him and reared him as one of her own.
Emily arrived in April 1997 around 3 months old. She was dirty and thin and had an eye condition. Despite many veterinary consultations and various treatments given, the condition has never entirely been cleared up and she still has a slight discharge. She is a very tiny cat and even now at 10 years old she still looks like an adolescent.
Jessica and Whoozie Bear are brother and sister. They were feral kittens who arrived in June 1997. Although they have grown to trust me they are very frightened of strangers and refuse to come out from hiding when we have visitors to the sanctuary.
Lucy was dumped in a cardboard box with her 2 brothers when 2 weeks old, in Early August 1997. They were brought here and were so ill despite immediate veterinary treatment within 24 hours one of her brothers died. Lucy and her brother Barney were re-homed when about 4 months old but they were returned some months later when the adopters experienced serious domestic problems.
Sadly Barney became ill and after several months of investigations he was diagnosed with fibrosis of the kidneys. His brave struggle ended only a few months later when he was less than 3 years old.
He was a very sweet boy and is sadly missed.

Thomas Sooty and Mouse were a family of feral kittens, they were captured and came here in September 1997 when about 10 weeks old. They were extremely feisty and never tamed. Thomas remains very timid but as can be seen from the picture he loves kittens and is happy to mother any orphans that arrive. Sooty has become more friendly over the years but is still wary. Mouse has never tamed and remains timid.
