Portes Du Soleil Snowkiting
This was my second Snowkiting trip of the year, however the main aim of this trip was Downhill Skiing and any snowkiting would be a bonus. Well let me just say the trip was a stormin success on both counts. Skiing in Portes du Soliel was absolutely amazing, with a little help from our ex-seasonaire Paul. The hidden valley and tree off pisting near the Crot chair :) :) :) Anyway I digress....
The snowkiting side of things, I got sorted in advance by loads of web research. I found a kiteski school called Le lykan that operated in Les Crosets (Big Bonus) Having chatted to them I had a spot sorted, all I needed was some wind and someone to kite with. This is where Flexiforum came in handy. I had already been incontact with Natway2000 regarding Les Crosets as he was/is doing a season out there. So we decided to hook up. Sorted....
However, on the day of our arrival the Lovely Rep Gilly said she'd never seen anyone snowkiting in the area :( The ski hire bloke spotted my flexi bag and got chatting bout Kiting. Again he reckoned you needed to leave Portes du Soleil to get any kiting done :(
Well they were both wrong, I went for a recky on Monday and found the area, nowhere near as big as the Pyrenean areas but still looked ok. Arrangements were made with Nathan and all was set for the nextday. Tuesday arrived along with loads of Snow and wind. Perfect. Off I went to meet Nathan much to the amusement of my mates. Suggestions of wearing a pink carnation to identify each other were made. Not necessary as a blade / Sabre bag are distinctive enough.
On arival at the kite Spot we found conditions slightly different from the photo below... White out and strong winds.

Anyway we were there and there was wind so we obviously had to kite. I set up my 3m Little Devil (just to check the wind originally but stuck with it.) Nathan much to my amazement set up his 11.5 Sabre. Fair Do's....
Well we blasted around there for ages trying to figure out where we were going in the white out. Which way was up, which way was down????? What a blast. From reading that you might think everthing went well... It nearly did until I ripped a cell open on my Little Devil (Still flew though) and then, when packing up a massive gust carried Nathan's board up and over the hill and into oblivion. To make matters worse we didn't see it happen and spent t'best part of an hour searching for it. After he'd resigned himself to getting a new board and having to walk down to Morzine, the look on Nathan's face was classic when a skischool girl said someone had found it :0 :0Quality session, cheers to Nathan aka Natway2000 for the photos and the company andLe Lykan
