Mountain Biking in the Alpujarras:
Guajar Faguit-Guajar Alto-Guajar Faguit loop
This route is further afield and therefore requires transport. Guajar Faguit is located on a minor road to the right of the N-323 as it heads toward the coast. Leave Guajar Faguit on the tarmac road as it climbs over 5 km to Guajar Alto. Turn off the road onto a jeep track running along the side of the river (Rio de la Taba). Stay on this track for approximately 7 km at which point you will reach the valley head. Switch onto the small track on the left. After 2 km the next valley will become visible, after a further 2 km you will meet the ridge. From here you can look out over Almunecar to the Mediterranean and, on a clear day, the Rif mountains of North Africa. Stay on the ridge path for 4 km before taking the tight and twisting left hand track for approximately 600 m back into Guajar Faguit, the last 200 m of track covered by a canopy of trees. Return to Guajar Faguit by road.
