| Casa de las Ollas is a beautiful, well proportioned, recently renovated house situated in a small, peaceful village nestling in the terraced contours of a High Alpujarran river valley. It is ideally positioned for walking, horse trekking, mountain biking, the Sierra Nevada National Park, Granada and the Alhambra Palace, or touring the white washed Alpujarran villages of the region. Located at the heart of the Sierra Nevada Natural Park, Mecinilla is one of seven small villages known as La Taha de Pitres, so named by Moorish settlers who came to the area following their expulsion from Granada at the end of the 15th century (Look for Mecina Fondales on the map). Once described as the 'Switzerland of Spain,' the Alpujarras have been brought to the attention of modern travellers by Chris Stewart in his best selling work Driving Over Lemons. | ||
