Walking in the Alpujarras
Walk 10
Capilerilla to Bubion
(Approx. 1.5 hours each way) This walk starts in Capilerilla, a very small sleepy village just above Pitres (About 500m-1km). Park your car and look for the signpost at the top of the village that directs you upwards towards Bubion. This path is marked throughout by the red and white stripe of the GR7 routes, helping you to find your way through the early twists and turns and onto the forest road. This takes you up the hillside where you will have marvelous views of the snow-covered peak. At the top of the road you can look down onto the villages of Bubion, and further up and to the right, Capileira. The path then winds quite steeply down into the village of Bubion, passed the stables and riding school and onto the main street. This route is well enough marked to enable a return journey but walkers should remember that the climb up onto the forestry path is both steep and long.
