As a child I spent many hours walking in this wood which was very near to Digswell Road where I lived. This book is by a man who was familiar with the wood in pre-war times. It gives a brief history of the wood from medieval times including discussion of place names, and describes the geology and natural history of the wood. There are a few photographs, one being an aerial view of part of the wood, and a further two being attractive scenes within the wood itself. At the back of the book is a two-page pull-out map of the wood showing the footpaths which I knew very well.
