Remote Automatic Weather Station

Introduction.
The "RAWS" (the sister project for "RSAMS") is essentially a weather station located at the "Spaceguard" centre near Knighton, Powys. At the heart of the station is a "Campbell Scientific CR10X" data logger, to this are connected a suite of sensors to measure wind speed/direction, air temperature/humidity, soil temperature, rainfall, barometric pressure and solar radiation.
Data are collected by the sensors and processed by the logger then stored into memory as hourly averages, maximums and minimums, along with total rainfall and sunshine hours. This information is accessed via a radio link every hour and the results are displayed on this website.
Primarily the data from the station is used for astrometry, This is a process whereby the data is integrated with the spaceguard project to better determine the tradjectory of the asteroids, this data enables spaceguard to make very accurate calculations, weeks even months in advance, so enabeling us to determine the level of threat the asteroid poses on our planet and allowing the highpower bodies concerned time to take counter action.
The Raws project was installed in August 2003 and is integrated with the seismic project RSAMS (installed March 2003) data from the weather station is uploaded to the internet for viewing here , data sets are also sent to the Met Office on a regular basis. If you would like to see the current conditions at Spaceguard just click the link above.

Spaceguard is approx 38 Kilometers away from my location, where I run a local weather station (Neenton) the data from here is processed in the same way as the RAWS and can be accessed from the link above. The current local data is also sent out over the air from my amateur radio station G7NSJ, this is known as "APRS", information on this can be found on the net. Recently I have introduced a climate monitoring station which at this stage is experimental. Data from this station is uploaded to the internet and is available for viewing here.
Neenton, Shropshire Weather Station.
As part of a recent upgrade I have installed a Davis Instruments "Vantage Pro" wireless weather station. This allows the collection of windspeed/direction, air temperature, humidity, solar radiation, precipitation, barometric pressure, and also indoor temp and humidity. Data for these elements are available in near realtime here. This data is also uploaded to "Weatherunderground".
