Symphony No 40 Mozart

Holy Trinity Church, Gawcott

Around 90 people formed the audience for the BCO's first concert on June 5th in Holy Trinity Church, Gawcott,Buckingham. A balmy evening, with some wine and nibbles made it a perfect setting for the event. Unusually the Orchestra started the concert with a full Symphony, the Haydn 104th, bravely beginning with a bold unison 'D'. Conductor Catherine Rose struck up a good rapport with her audience from the beginning.
The lively Minuet and Trio from Dvorak's Wind Serenade followed, as Catherine said 'as the jam in the sandwich'. Some excellent playing by the oboes and clarinets made this a sparking interlude. After an extended interval the evening was brought to a close with Mozart's brooding 40th Symphony, and to calls for 'more', the Orchestra took a final bow.

Thanks must go to all who helped make this evening such a success - the Committee, Catherine and all the players.
