Sueno’s Stone To the east of the town of Forres off the A96. Signed in the town.
This huge stone is over 6m tall and one of the best examples of Pictish carving in Britain. It was carved around the 9th century and is now protected by huge slabs of acrylic. One face has a large ring headed cross surrounded by complex interlaced designs. The other side carries some 98 separate human figures recording a battle scene. The edges depict foliage, monsters and humans. |
