Kerguntuil
Dolmen and Allée couverte
Trégastel, Côte du Nord

Take the D11 to Trégastel and as you enter the town take the left turn that is signed to the tombs. Keep following the signs and you will see the dolmen beside the road and a small space to park further on.

Dolmen
This tomb is right beside the road and has a huge capstone that is about 5 by 2.4m (16 by 8ft). It is supported by three large stones and quite a lot of modern walling to keep it up. There is a large rectangular chamber inside that has probably been used as an animal shelter. The allée couverte can be seen on the other side of the field about 100m away.

Allée Couverte
This tomb is in good condition and lies along a field boundary and hedgerow. It is about 9m (30ft) long and has four large capstones covering it. The entrance was probably at the end but this is blocked by the hedgerow but a gap at the end allows access to see the carvings. There are seven supporting stones to the north side of the tomb and six to the south. The missing one is where you can get in.

The entrance gap

All the stones are granite and two of the supporting slabs on the inside are carved. One is very clear to see and has three pairs of breasts carved in a row along the center of the stone. Beneath them are some other shapes. The stone just to the left has another pair that are more lightly carved and are fainter.
