Kerloas From Brest head west towards St Renan and from here find the road to Plouarzel. After a few km the site is signed to the left. Follow the lane for a couple of km to a parking space where a path leads to the site. This is the tallest standing stone in Western Europe and it is big. It now measures 9.5m (over 31ft) from base to top but once was 2m higher. About 200 years ago the top was struck by lightning and the top section broke off and was taken to the next farm. The enormous stone has been smoothed and shaped before it was erected and near the base on both the WSW and ESE sides are two bulges that were shaped. These round shapes are about 150mm (6 inches) across and about 1.5m from the ground level. The stone was transported about 2.5km in the west that also involved dragging it uphill to the present site that must have been a huge task as the stone weighs 100 tons.
