Stone Rows
Camaret-sur-Mer, Finistère

From Crozon drive to Camaret and follow the sign for Pointe-de Pen-Hir. When you come to a T junction the stones will be seen on the right. There are laybys and a large overnight free carpark for campervans next to the rows.

Many of the stones were re-erected in 1928 as many had toppled in an earthquake in the past. The main row runs NE to SW and at the northern end two smaller rows extend from it at right angles towards the NW. This section looks like three sides of a large stone enclosure. To the SE is a small row of three large stones that is 20m long and the stones all reach about 2.5m (8ft).

There are about 100 stones remaining on the site but it is thought there could have originally been up to 400. The long row has 42 stones around 1m in height. The furthest side row has 13 pillars stretching 40m with the tallest reaching 3m (10ft). Just 40m to the SW is the second side row that is 50m long and contains 17 pillars.
