Mané Lud
Long mound and passage grave
Locmariaquer, Morbihan

This is signed from the north of Locmariaquer on the D781 about 1km from the village. There is a small space to park.

This is a long mound measuring over 100m long by 50m wide and reaches 6m (20ft) high and is right beside some farm buildings. At the WSW end of the mound is a passage grave where several of the stones have detailed carvings. Steps beside a farm building lead to the entrance to the passage that is 5m long and leads to a larger chamber measuring about 3x3m (10x10ft).

The carvings in the chamber include axes and many “U” shapes with curved ends described as yokes or serpents. These are also repeated in the passage along with some “boat” shaped designs.

De La Tour Campsite
Standing Stone

We camped one of our nights here and found a standing stone next to us – they crop up all over the place here.
