Weetwood
Moor
Rock Art
NU 021 281
This
is considered to be one of the most spectacular designs in Britain. The
rocks in the other groups lead up to it on the gentle slope creating a
focal point for the site. Here there are six cups with multiple
rings with most of them interconnected with long grooves radiating from
the central cups. The carvings are very clear and the views are very good.

Roughting
Linn
Rock Art
NT 984 367
This is the largest decorated rock in northern
England and is a natural elongated domed ridge of sandstone about 20m long
by 12m wide. The western edge was quarried away before 1850 and there is a
wedge missing that cuts right through a large cup with multiple rings.
Most of the motifs are based on deep cup and ring forms but there is a lot
of variety in them.

Law
Rock Art
NU 004 317
The main rock has some unusual motifs, a number
of almost square or rectangular ring shapes, one having multiple rings and
the larger ones each containing several cupmarks. These are interconnected
with long grooves, one of which seems to split into two inside the square
and has cups on either side

Lordenshaw
Rock Art
NZ 050 992
This is one of the largest decorated rocks in
Northumberland. It consists mainly of cup and ring motifs and channels as
well as isolated cups. The highest part of the rock has been eroded but
the carvings are clearer lower down. The designs are organised in an
arrangement downhill as if they were intended to direct the flow of water.
The views are again excellent from here and this could have been the
reason for so much carving and decoration.

Bewick
Rock Art
NU 078 215
Here there is a unique double cup and ring
pattern surrounded by more simple cup and ring forms. Lines of cupmarks
also mark two of the vertical faces of the outcrop. Long grooves start and
end with cups. Several have multiple rings and arcs with grooves that
interconnect the designs. A long manmade groove divides the rock art. To
the left a pair of cups with multiple rings form an almost interlocked
figure of eight design which is unique.
