Callanish III
Cnoc Fillibhir Bheag  – “Little Fillibher Hillock”
NB 225 326

You can walk to this site from Callanish ll or return to the road and park in the layby on the right. Dogs are not allowed on this site either making a circular walk difficult. The short walk up to the circle is a great lead in as it is a very attractive site.

The site consists of an outer ellipse of stones measuring 13.7x13.1m (45x43ft) made up of 8 tall standing stones and 5 fallen. Inside this ring are four taller stones, the tallest reaching 2.1m (7ft). These are thought to be part of an inner ellipse but some think it might be a four sided structure.

There are pleasant views all round and the hills and sky can create a dramatic backdrop especially in winter as in January 1984 the group Ultravox recorded a video here in the circle.

About 120m north, back down the path is what looks like a small ring cairn.
