Callanish VIII Cleitir "Cliffs" Stone circle NB 164 342 From the main site in Callanish drive SE on the A858 and turn right on the B8011 passing Callanish IV. Continue for about 2.5 miles then turn right at the B8059 towards the island of Bernera. After about 5 miles you will come to a bridge to the island. Go over the bridge and park in the layby on the other side. Go up the rough steps from the roadside and go through a gate to reach the stones. The stones overlook the bridge and you can’t miss them.
This is considered a unique site as it seems to have been designed as a stone semi-circle occupying a rocky slope ending in a cliff beside the water. There are four standing stones (the tall NE stone has been re-erected) forming a diameter of about 20m along the cliff face.

| A
wire fence has been put up so you can’t get to the small stone on the
edge of the cliff and what looks like two stumps have also been erected in
concrete just inside the arc of the circle. The tallest stones are about
2.7m (9ft) high to the north and to the west the stone is about 2.2m
(7.5ft)
