Dervaig
Stone Alignments
NM 439 521, 436 531 and 438 517

Take the narrow and very bendy road to Dervaig signed from Tobermory (The first right from the pier) After 5 miles the road gets very bendy and when you see a modern cairn above the road on the left look for a parking space on the left nearby. Walk to the gate by the edge of the forest and you will see the stones ahead in a clearing.

There are five stones here but only two still stand. They are about 2.4m (8ft) tall and are aligned in a short row NNW to SSE.

The second group of stones can be hard to find as the marker posts seem to have gone missing at the start. To reach them from the first stones go NE along a very vague route through the trees. Behind a tree near the stones is a piece of orange plastic tape that has replaced a marker post. When you find wooden posts with a red painted ring on them you will be ok. Follow these infrequent markers until you reach a stone wall, then the route is easy as there are more markers (When the markers appear on the far side of the wall cross the wall and follow them). After about a mile you will come to the stones.

Of the four stones here three are still standing, also in a NNW to SSE alignment. They are about 2m high and the one beside the fallen stone appears to have possible small cupmarks on three of its sides.

The third set of stones is much easier to find. Drive on to the next hairpin bend and park in the space beside it overlooking a graveyard. Walk to the gate and you will see the stones below. The tallest has been built into the wall beyond the cemetery and two smaller stones are just over the wall. These are also aligned NNW to SSE as the other alignments. The tallest is around 1.5m (5ft) and the others are around 1m.
