Loch a Phobuill Stone Circle NF 829 630 Take the B894 right turn of the A867 just after Clachan where the shop is and drive on for about 2 miles. When you come to the lochs look for a large building on the left then look for a rough track on the right before a small quarry. Go up this track for a short distance and there is room to park. There is nowhere on the road. This is a handy place to park for this circle. Walk on up to a metal gate and go through it then head west for under ˝ mile across the peat (very damp). You should be able to see a “shark fin” shaped stone ahead on the skyline – this is part of the circle. There is only one fence to cross but there is a gap further up the field.

We counted 13 stones in this large ellipse measuring around 40x35m (130x115ft). Most of the surviving stones are in the west but the tallest stone is to the east on slightly higher ground. This is about 1m high. |
