Loch Seaforth “Sideabhal”
Stone Circle
NB 278 166

Take the A859 from Stornoway towards Tarbert and after passing through the village of Balallan take the second on the left on a single lane road up into the hills signposted Eisgean. After about three miles passing several small lochs you will come to the top of Loch Seaforth where a small lane forks to the right down to a farm beside the water. Park at the top and walk down to the farm. The circle is about 400m west of the farm on the edge of the loch. The farmer had been born in the first ruin you come to, the circle is behind the second ruin a little further on.

There are two standing stones and one fallen on the NW side of the circle, these are about 1.5m (5ft) high and the rest of the circle has been incorporated into an old structure many years ago. One large stone can be seen in the wall to the east. The circle is about 12m diameter and, apart from the plastic bag scarecrows, the views are wonderful of the lake, mountains and rapidly approaching rain clouds.
